i hear Beams is out for a while – pretty bad in fact from a mad pie fan i know !
Warren will play most weeks whereas McCaffer will go when Didak and co back….

What do peopel think of Coghlan ???? Worth a risk or a big big gamble ??

  2. Toolavich

    May 7, 2009 at 8:51 pm

@steven…relax mate, Beams will be back. Bench him.

Walkers a worry…sideway trades are not the way to go though with only small $$$ return. Go Macaffer if your desperate…otherwise hang out for Sidebottom, the kid is GOOD!

Walker is still playing, so there is still upside…sit tight for now.

Houlihan will be out 2 weeks tops. Take the doughnut if you have to. Hurley IS one trade to come in the backline…wait for him to make you some $$$$

I hope Freo pump the Blues, so that muppet Ratten realises that they cannot win a game without the great man Ryan Houlihan. 🙂

For god’s sake, don’t afl coaches think of dreamteam when dropping people? ;P

Just found out in eliminator I’m versing a bloke who avg 1500. Life is good again 🙂

  5. JP

    May 7, 2009 at 9:00 pm

Suffer in your jocks if you have Houlihan in your side…. this bloke has great skills but is as soft as a rotten tomatoe, he should be playing tennis

  6. steven

    May 7, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Thanks toolavich – the beans trade was more to cash in on Coghlan before he goes up nicely this week. could do with a little extra $$$$ for later on.

i can see walker dropping big time this week – he is $hit !!!!

  7. Pendles

    May 7, 2009 at 9:16 pm

argh! needed greenwood to play this week, so i could trade petrenko for him and then upgrade a ruck to petrie..

  8. Toolavich

    May 7, 2009 at 9:16 pm

@ steven – Coughlan does look enticing but a big injury risk, it’s a 50/50 bet.

    Trades mate Trades….THEY ARE GOLD….use wisely and not often…Kids for $$$$ 4 premiums…..Good luck.

  9. Sir Fartypants Likkiballs

    May 7, 2009 at 9:20 pm

I don’t think Walker is shit, I think Adelaide can’t use its forwards, tippett, henshit, walker… all of them have done bugger all.

Neil Craig is shit, not walker…

  10. Toolavich

    May 7, 2009 at 9:28 pm

@ Sir Fartypants Likkiballs….Yes…Neil Craig is still making up his mind how to construct his forward line for the next 2/3 years…he is struggling atm.

Love the username by the way…ROFL

I’m gettin’ a haircut and havin’ roast lamb with Mum and Kekka on Sundy, so lay off!

  12. Smit

    May 8, 2009 at 12:15 am

Ive just traded Ablett& Broughton for Corey & Scott Stevens, who is really cheap as my 8th back, perfect cover for Houlihan for a week or so. He was a big scorer early last yr, & will improve.

Hanging onto Beams and Skipworth, both a week away & Houlihan will come back.

Little Gazza wont dominate when he gets back, dont get sucked into keeping him

  13. WorstDreamTeamer4Life

    May 8, 2009 at 12:24 am

pfft more like you’re trying to suck more people in to trading ablett 😛

bahahahahaahahahahaha… you need 18 trades at this point to have a chance at the 50k

  14. Elroy67

    May 8, 2009 at 12:42 am

    @ Tim

Pal, sometimes you just gotta trade.

I had resisted all urges to make changes until last week when i traded out Skippy and Dazzle.

I’m glad I did otherwise I would be looking at 6 0’s instead of 4 this week.

I agree that most times you’re better off just to suck it up, but I’m not going to suck that hard!

  15. Tim

    May 8, 2009 at 6:58 am

    @ Elroy (and Shane):

this guy is making up trades to cover one rook with heaps of upside who ran drills this week so should play next week and Houli who should only miss a week. He has already used 9 trades. So should he

a: go to nine trades with 16 weeks in order to cover two donuts, or
b: score 150 less for one week and stay on 11 trades.

    That’s a no-brainer.

  16. Ashmos

    May 8, 2009 at 8:58 am

Maybe Houlihan doesn’t like going to the Gold Coast? I know I don’t…

  17. Heater

    May 8, 2009 at 9:01 am

Houlihan, Cheney, Broughton, Beams,Ablett, Anthony, Skippy & Ballantyne, White & Jacobs ALL not $%#$!! well playing! Things are not going well….

Any thoughts on Beams for Thornton from Sydney???

Might take the risk on a donut from Houlihan with the possibility Cheney will play (2nd week in a row he has been emergency for the Dees) to cover Houlihan. You would have to think Houlihan is in Carlton’s best 22…???

  18. ronl

    May 8, 2009 at 9:30 am

I knew deep inside that one day I would seriously regret buying a degenerate pussy- boy like Houlihan, but greed got the better of me. Now I pay for my sins.

  19. Roboy81

    May 8, 2009 at 9:57 am

Safe to say that people have benefited from including premium rookies (Hill, Rich)over the $94k calibre.

Richo for Franklin and Robinson for Coughlan…happy days.

Anyone reckon Gia is a good get if he falls to around $350k?? He started at $501k (Scoach)

  20. chris

    May 8, 2009 at 10:15 am

Looks like I’m not the only one with a brittle back line this week. Potentially 2 doughnuts with Raines and Houlihan now on the bench and Petrenko and Cheney on the ground both listed on extended benches.

Also got Joseph on the ground in place of Yablett, downgraded Walker to MacCaffer and upgraded B.Johnson to Davis, unfortunately though cause I got Skippy on the bench either MacCaffer or Warren need to start

  21. Jesus

    May 8, 2009 at 10:28 am

In some slight bother, but at least I have 20 trades left. Currently injured/not playing:

    Richo
    Raines
    Skipworth
    Ablett
    Garlett
    Beams
    Houlihan
    Hartlett
    Lucas
    Didak
    Hill
    Hurley
    Broughton
    Spencer
    White
    Harvey

Wish I was joking. Probably time to make two trades this week…

  22. Lewis

    May 8, 2009 at 10:44 am

    I share a similar sentiment as those above;

    Where the fark is Raines
Why the fark was Houlihan dropped
A hammy for Hartlett – such a young player, too early in his career to pull a hammy – not a good sign
I am happy I didn’t have Ablett – at least one positive!

  23. Ben

    May 8, 2009 at 10:48 am

I need Bock to play, because houlihan god dropped which makes no sense. I believe ratten did that on purpose to make every fantasy player mad, it makes no sense surely you would drop a bower or cloke first.

  24. Simon

    May 8, 2009 at 10:55 am

Bock is very unlikely to play is the word coming out of Adelaide – best wait to 5pm tonight to get the Sunday teams.

  25. The Fone

    May 8, 2009 at 10:59 am

    you have to be joking!

the only person i have had to trade has been richo and got leon davis.

    Best move i ever made.

  26. The Fone

    May 8, 2009 at 11:26 am

another note, 3 emergencies that i have hung onto and are p*ssing me off!

    Cheney, Broughton & Liam Anthony…

START GIVING THEM GAME TIME YOU EVIL, EVIL COACHES.

  27. Ben

    May 8, 2009 at 11:30 am

I dont believe that houlihan has been dropped, i could name five carlton players that should be dropped before him.

  28. Heater

    May 8, 2009 at 11:54 am

@ Jesus – not even someone with your powers can get you out of the fix you are in.

And I thought I was in a bad way. Makes me feel a whole lot happier!!!!

  29. Coolio

    May 8, 2009 at 12:08 pm

Any way I can get hold of the breakevens for players not playing this week, like Beams, Ham Hartlett etc would be useful to know when pondering potential trade scenarios…

  30. Ropes

    May 8, 2009 at 12:27 pm

I have Hoops in the forwards so its not too bad for myself

  31. Bottoms

    May 8, 2009 at 12:53 pm

The lesson for this week for you all is DON’T pick injury prone, shyte players (Houlihan, Skipworth, Coughlan). It’s Coughlan’s Law.

  32. Milly

    May 8, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Anyone think higgins straight swap for Roughead this week is a good idea? Higgins will be more consistent but roughy capable of big scores.

  33. Confused,,,,,

    May 8, 2009 at 1:08 pm

Wanna trade T. Walker out for either
    B. Warren or Nahas or M. Brown ??

    Advice anyone

  34. Confused,,,,,

    May 8, 2009 at 1:11 pm

Roughead will be more explosive over the year IMO

  35. Nick

    May 8, 2009 at 1:14 pm

Don’t trade for rookies who have already moved up in price. You’ve cost yourself $50,000 to do it.

A better bet is to take a punt on an upcoming rookie, yet to play. Ballantyne jumps to mind, but he is a long way off yet. Players of that mould; big rap in preseason, haven’t got a start for one reason or another so far this season.

You could always get screwed and they’ll never play, but I think you missed the week to jump off Walker. As long as he plays he’s a chance to improve his form, he may even suddenly start playing 80% of the game and score a solid 4 goals, putting another $100,000 on his total.

My point is, you missed the chance to cash in properly, it’s going to cost you $50,000 at least to pick up one of the already earning, playing rookies. Will T. Walker drop that much in value before another option comes around? I don’t expect so.

  36. Heated

    May 8, 2009 at 1:18 pm

Go with steele sidebottom this week, will play and will dominate!

  37. Nick

    May 8, 2009 at 1:25 pm

    Rookie Wisdom – Part 2:

Don’t trade in rookies who haven’t been selected to play their third game.

Sidebottom is on the extended bench, against the Saints. Even if he plays, which going by NAB form where they wrapped him in cotton wool, the Saints should choke the possessions off the Pies. His numbers will be down, but on the other hand, if he does dominate like you say, he’ll look very promising and Mick may let him have another run.

  38. Confused,,,,,

    May 8, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Thanks for sound advice Nick – You makie a good point, have already missed the boat on those cash cows…..

    T. walkers break even is 66 this week so may drop down a bit but i guess it atleast if i can keep him until i have $110,000 to get Sidebottom or other like gun potential i am stil infront and he may get points….

Yuor thoughts on Beams for Coghlan nick ??

    thanks again !

  39. chris

    May 8, 2009 at 1:27 pm

@Bottoms Houlihan has done alright averaging 85 in SC which is good for his price, also his price has gone up just under $80K this year. Also Higgins and Haselby fall into the injury prone category and have also done well. So it is a risk which comes off sometimes(Higgins,Haselby,Houlihan) and doesn’t others(Skippy,Raines ): )

  40. chris

    May 8, 2009 at 1:36 pm

@Nick & Confused, if Walker gets his average of 41 he will drop $6,700(SC) thats after dropping $15K last week. 4 out of his 6 games he hasn’t reached his average it is only that high because of one game of 88 so more than likely he will drop more. I think now is the time to trade him so he doesn’t lose that hard earn $$. MacCaffer has been named on the ground so is more than likely to play if you have Walker on your bench trade to him, he is also on the bubble so will get his price rise next week

  41. Wishin Aint Gettin

    May 8, 2009 at 1:39 pm

Bock is definitely out with a hammy. Also Goodwin and Edwards are sore.

‘Confused’ – stick with Walker – is in top 10 for shots on goal with only 50% time on ground. Has hit the post three times as well. He will spend more time on the ground with Bock out and Stevens down back.

  42. Confused,,,,,

    May 8, 2009 at 1:39 pm

but isnt Mccaffer likely to get the ar#e when all th ebig name collignwood players come back – Didak etc….

  43. Nick

    May 8, 2009 at 1:44 pm

I traded Beams to Coughlan, but I regretted it. It’s too risky for not enough cash, only $3,700 profit and Beams has plenty left in him. The clincher for me at the time was Coughlan’s place being more secure than Cockie or Deboer and his scoring potential being slightly better.

I traded potential for risky security.

I think Walker to Mcaffer will hurt you when Didak returns. Even if Taylor Walker drops, was that $21,000 you’d worked out? (thanks), he will level out. My point wasn’t so much about getting as much out of him as you can, because that was weeks ago, it’s limiting what it’s going to cost you to trade him in and I believe there aren’t any rookies currently presenting who won’t end up costing you another trade early because they played rounds 5, 6, 7 & 18.

  44. chris

    May 8, 2009 at 1:49 pm

@Confused, In between now and then he is going to make you money including the bubble burst next week. Also if he sitting on your bench then you don’t need him to be playing every week and there isn’t a lot of other options at the moment.

@Wishin Aint Gettin – still think Taylor is a risk he is going to go down in the next couple of weeks because of his poor scores the last 2 weeks(18 and 30) his BE is nearly 60. Realise his scores are low cause Craigy isn’t giving him TOG but it is a risk trusting that he will

  45. Confused,,,,,

    May 8, 2009 at 1:59 pm

Very true Chris – McCaffer or Warren would be my 2nd back up as got Skpiworth to come back – so my last spot n forward lien will rotate between, skipworth – M. Brown and then wither Walker/McCaffer/Warren or someone else…

I agree with the bubble burst for McCafefr but after this week he may go back to the seconds….

  46. chris

    May 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm

@Nick gonna take him a few weeks to level out till the 18 he got last week falls out of his rolling average by that time he might have lost 40-50K which he might get back with a 4 or 5 weeks of good scoring. My problem was I had him on the ground cause I had Skippy and Warren on the bench so couldn’t afford the low scores so hopefully Skippy comes back in the next 2 weeks then Maccaffer will sit on the bench.

  47. chris

    May 8, 2009 at 2:11 pm

@Confused, yep its a risk to go to MacCaffer and its a risk to keep Walker. If you keep Walker this week think you need to keep him for a while till his price comes back up once he starts getting more game time.

  48. steve

    May 8, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Im a carlton supporter and I knew to stay away from picking Houilian!! He a “fairey” footballer and you wont be seeing him again. Was just a cover for Yarran until Yarran got some game-time/match practice in the 2’s.

my advice trade him – he’s not in our best 22!

  49. facebum

    May 8, 2009 at 2:24 pm

what’s the hard evidence that bock will be out? I hear people saying it, but I haven’t actually SEEN anything that says he will be out.

  50. Peter G

    May 8, 2009 at 3:20 pm

@ Steve. Yarran’ll be in a holding pen inside a month. Oh, and you’re an idiot.
