Did anyone else notice the report that Yarran is recovering from a hamstring?

It is listed along with everyone else on InjuryUpdate
    http://www.injuryupdate.com.au/afl.php

For all the n00b fanfooty people like myself just be careful when you read all the musings posted on here. It is very hard to glean the good bits!!!

Thanks to you all though as I have learnt a tonne 🙂

    @Dylan

Pick Pav. Porps will struggle this year IMO. Adelaides forward structure is a mess.

Otherwise Franklin could be next in line..
He should be ready to fire up.

What would you guys pick between the following combinations?

    One of Bartel & Judd
One of Goodes, Gibbs, or Luke Power.

Jesus is getting traded and I’m deliberating the best option for the mids. Thanks all.

  6. Sam

    May 8, 2009 at 5:01 pm

As i see it, why wouldn’t one use trades now?(if they are for the right purposes!) eg. downgrading Beams is something your going to have to do eventually so why not do it now when:
    a) you can pick up Coughlan (/rookie)
    b) Beams has almost peaked injury could be longer
    c) you might be covering a donut.

It is ok to be ‘running out of trades’ IF your team is ‘getting closer to completion’.

    thoughts?

Its ok to get down a bit Sam but so long as you have trades in place for injuries. Its all good getting a nice team fast but what if ur out of trades and that happens early on in the season??

Also thanks for the reply The3rd i was thinking that as well. Just got a few more ideas from the people i have been talking to on dttalk. They are
A:Rich/Otten out for Hayes then Porp up to Gia
B:Rich/Otten out for Mitchell then Porp up to Franklin
C:Otten out for M.Murphy then Porp to Franklin
D: Porp to Pavlich and hold onto rich and Otten for a little longer

Think i should still run with option D or try one of the other 3?

Agree with Sam, nothing wrong with using trades if they are to get you closer to a team that you don’t have to touch. e.g Beams to Coughlan (assuming he stays fit) is a swap of a peaked rook with an injury for a potential keeper AND you make $3,700 on the deal.

  12. The3rd

    May 8, 2009 at 5:22 pm

    @Dylan
IMO i think option D is your best bet.
Rich and Otten still have a bit of cash to make yet. But that just me.

NOOOOO!!!!! both bock and brown are out with a hammy. I have walker to replace brown. walker better not be crap like usuall.

Then, should i go petrenko or suban to replace bock?

  20. Spydko

    May 8, 2009 at 6:04 pm

The fact that my team is as Fcuked as much as half of all you guys might be pleasing Just have to hold strong here me thinks injuries aplenty in the first few rounds, can’t win

First Anthony then Raines quickly followed by Skippy and Hille and Harvey and Gablett and Beams and Brown Oh Well when in doubt start playing the rookies and tryin win the league. The ranking has blown out to 10,000 ’09 is over!

  21. Raf

    May 8, 2009 at 6:06 pm

Brown out is going to donut quite a few people, I suspect. I was having a hard time choosing Brown or Warren as my 7th on field this week anyway. I went with Warren, so Brown just leaves me with no cover for the week and, more importantly, no price increase for Brown just as we lead up to trade time for him. Damn.

Bock out puts Hill back on the field for me, same thing different week, did a good job for me last week, hopefully has another good performance this week!

I ended up doing Harvey to Jonno Brown and Petrenko to Mackie this week. I was originally going to do Harvey to Stevie J, but I figured:

    1) Stevie has a 128 BE and is playing Sydney. He’ll fall again, maybe a lot, it IS Sydney.

    2) Harvey to Stevie now left me just too short on cash by about 5k to upgrade Petrenko to Mackie or Beams to Mitchell, the two best value trades I could see this week, and there’s no point using a trade to upgrade a rook to a non-keeper.

    3) Jonno Brown always goes on streaks, and if you miss out you tend to miss out by the tune of some big hundreds and a lot of cash. I was late to the party last year. He’s just had a breakout 100, he’s having a baby, and he’s playing Richmond without Richo- the writing is on the wall.

It’s a risk, but if J Brown works out then I only have one real rookie on the ground to upgrade (the Brown/Warren spot) and I can turn to upgrading semi-keepers like Rich, Harding and Whitecross.

  22. Raf

    May 8, 2009 at 6:08 pm

Beams to Coughlan didn’t even cross my mind. Begging for injury problems, that trade.

  23. Evan

    May 8, 2009 at 6:09 pm

this is shit!! ive got houlihan broughton cheney brown didak not playing. just traded bwown to mcCaffer and when will houlhan be back?

  24. Spydko

    May 8, 2009 at 6:10 pm

    @Raf

didn’t you see Jono browns finger looks like a chad cornes injury to me i reckon he might be missing a few finger tendons dangerous for a centre half fwd.

  25. aza03

    May 8, 2009 at 6:12 pm

what rock have you been living under all week fenez???

ablett has a groin injury and is out for 2-3 weeks.

  26. kazooom

    May 8, 2009 at 6:13 pm

I have a weak midfield and dont know if Cogs will help get me some guns later in season. Am first year SC who do i trade if any??
Good – Swan, Bartel, Higgins, Kerr
OK – Hill Dangerfield, Beams & Robinson.
Is it worth trading Robinson for Cogs and having 4 Ok’s in my mid or should just leave it. Have 11 trades left and $370k in bank.
Also have mumford in ruck but cant afford cox yet

  27. Damien Scott

    May 8, 2009 at 6:14 pm

will nathan bock be out for a few weeks?

  30. Jon

    May 8, 2009 at 6:34 pm

Ben Reid is a real chance to make the final 22 for the Pies.

They have lost J.Anthony and will need another tall forward, whether it is Rocca or Reid only Mick and his staff know!

  31. hmmmmm

  39. Frank

    May 13, 2009 at 3:42 pm

A write-up assessing Round 7 would be grand Monty and Mitch as I am sure many coaches are gagging for it!

Don’t worry about the spelling and grammar young Mitchell just post it…

  40. Ryan

    May 13, 2009 at 3:55 pm

    You Alive Monty??

  41. dylan

    May 13, 2009 at 3:59 pm

Yeah i agree with Frank, the only criticism i have of this site is that i find it is pretty inconstant for when articles are put up like Boys on the bubble and the roller coaster ones, they were not even done last week.

Anyways keep up the good work

    May 13, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Even if they just put up a new heading and pic and left us to talk amongst ourselves, at least it would give us something…

Early in the week on here it feel less like being in the outer during a Freo-Port game.
