Seems as though teams are pretty keen to rest their kids against the cats. Not a bad call though.

Time to cash in Trengrove for Armstrong? I’m sure he’ll keep his spot now that the Adelaide elderly sits midfield are finally calling it quits.

Should I get rid of JKT, Bastinac or Trengrove? Will JKT ever get a game again?

Heath Shaw or Sam Fisher to replace Kennelly? Thanks.

I’d get rid of JKT. Hawks are desperate and will be playing their best side for the next month rather than trying to put games into kids. Trengove still a gun and capable of big scores.

I’d probably take Sam Fisher over Shaw. Shaw gets tagged. The Saints have a ridiculously easy draw in the next month. The AFL are obviously pretty keen to have the Saints play finals this year, understandable I guess.

@mervn…. “The Saints have a ridiculously easy draw in the next month. The AFL are obviously pretty keen to have the Saints play finals this year”

The saints would play these teams no matter what… it’s not the AFL’s choosing that some teams are worse than others at the moment. Most would have expected adelaide to have been top four this year after the way they finished last season, and geelong is hardly a “ridiculously easy” beat – i doubt fremantle at home will be either.

I was just thinking that having the saints up thereabout this year would be good for footy seeing as they’re window is open, if you know what i mean. I thought their draw was pretty easy this year. Am I wrong? If so, I apologise.

Richoman, you are pretty tough saying something like that over the internet. I wish I could talk as tough as you do. It’s such an awesome trait.

OK so I just checked out the Saints draw. To bkuys, I should have said they have an easy draw in the next fortnight rather than the next month. In the next 2 weeks they play the only 2 basket cases of the AFL this season; Adelaide and Richmond.

As for the rest of their draw, well, it’s a really easy draw. The teams they play twice? Nth, Coll, Fre, Port, Ess, Adl and Richmond. How many of those teams would have been expected, pre-season, to make the 8? 2 of them, Collingwood and Adelaide. That 2 of the 7 teams they play twice. So, I repeat, they have an extremely easy draw.

ye was a bit harsh thought you were trying to say that the AFL has deliberatlely given St Kilda an easy draw or something which isnt the case but i def see your point that the AFL would want saints in the finals and they do have an easy fortnight

AFL’s 2010 draw gives easier seasons to Geelong, Bulldogs and St Kilda; Essendon’s is harder

Mark Stevens From: Herald Sun October 30, 2009 10:30AM

This is a newspaper headline. I rest my case.

It’s not a big deal as it seems to work out over a few years. Very very interesting however that all the ‘big story’ teams (Dogs, nothing since ’63, Saints, nothing since ’66 and Cats, shooting for 3 out of 4) have copped a cosy draw.

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong and I really couldn’t give a toss who gets what draw, but it’s interesting to note.

Interesting to see who thinks it’s a coincidence and who thinks not?

how about “THE HAMS COOKED” back to the rookie list for Ashton

  14. knights

    May 28, 2010 at 12:11 am

Geelong and other good teams like the saints and WB appear to have easier draws because they are better than all the teams they play. A key advantage to Geelong’s draw is that they dont have to play the best side in the competition…

its not really a coincidence that the best teams seem have the best draws

  15. bkuys

    May 28, 2010 at 12:37 pm

Thanks for the advice mervneagle and Hank… Even if JKT gets a few more games he’ll be no help… Armstrong and Fisher it is.

Like the title Marcz. Glad I don’t have him!

  16. tallanvor

    May 28, 2010 at 5:09 pm

Thats just stupid knights. Say for instance Geelong played these teams twice – Collingwood, St Kilda, Carlton, Doggies, Fremantle, Hawthorn & Sydney .. you wouldnt be calling that the best draw.

And as for good fortnights .. youve got to be kidding me. Every team in the afl will have a ‘good’ fortnight at stage of the season. How the hell was the afl to know that Adelaide would be so bad.

A good draw is pretty much completely dependent on who you play twice. And no its no coincidence, the draw is compromised by the afl

  17. mervneagle

    May 28, 2010 at 5:58 pm

I wasn’t saying that the AFL deliberately gave St Kilda an easy fortnight rounds 10 and 11. Not sure where that idea came from. But yes indeed, if the majority of teams you play twice are crapola, then you can consider yourself lucky to have a good draw. Like the Saints do. And that was my point. Bkuys asked for advice on whether to take Heath Shaw or Sam Fisher, and I thought maybe Fisher because the Saints have a favourable draw.
