NEWS: Tarrant had a slow start to 2012 earlier this year in his final year of AFL with a freak toe injury which sidelined him for 6 weeks. Collingwood football and coaching strategist Rodney Eade told AFL.com.au said "He was jumping in his pool at home and had his feet over the edge, and as he went to push off, underneath the toe near the crease of the knuckle became lacerated. It was an area that once you stitch it, you can't walk on it because you're splitting the cut. He had to go in a moon boot so he couldn't really do anything for three or four weeks, and then it got a bit infected."

NEWS: Tarrant told The Club on Tuesday night "I've been around for a while and you do see people hang on a little bit too long ... and play that extra year where they shouldn't have and end up playing in the reserves and resenting football a little bit. I'm still loving football and loving being around the club and I thought this year I could end up playing hopefully in another successful finals series."

NEWS: Tarrant has missed much of the season with injury but finally made his return to the senior side, surprisingly in the forward lines. There is a chance he could remain there for the rest of the season. Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said after the match "I thought he was excellent. It's been awhile since he's been on the MCG, putting on 60, 70m searching leads up the wing. I thought more so than that, his ability to get into real dangerous spots ... they're a very good defensive unit, Geelong, and making them defend is more of a challenge than it seems. I thought some of the positions Taz put himself in were very hard to defend so in that way he played his role, kicked a couple of goals and played his part very well."

NEWS: Tarrant has been recovering from what Collingwood football director Geoff Walsh calls a "grumbly shoulder". He told the AFL website "It's nothing that's too severe, but just something that's restricted his general upper body movement. He's just needed some time and that's something we think he's over. We'd expect him to be available this week."

NEWS: Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said "Taz isn't right to go. We'll give him a couple more runs [in the VFL] and a couple more full weeks of training before we pull the trigger on Taz." Tarrant would have been the logical replacement for the injured Ben Reid.
