I have 380k in the bank and made 2 trades so far.

    Ctr Bench: Robinson/Anthony
    Fwd Bench: Walker/Brown

Problems this week = skipworth and ng brown (who can be covered by walker/brown) but then no ctr emgs and starting beams as the 6th mid.

    Im wondering whats better:

    1) Robinson to Gablett = Leaves me with 44k in the bank
    2) Skipworth to Riewoldt or Harvey and sit on the ctr situation for now

    Help?

I really really really hope Adcock pulls through! I’m playing my mate (who doesn’t have him) and it’s gonna be very tight. Last thing i need is a donut!

  3. same as last week

    April 24, 2009 at 12:41 am

Apart from the outs, I have noticed two major things that may have been overlooked.

Malthouse has been decidedly boring this Anzac Day with no changes. Could have at least put a left field rookie as an emergency to keep face.

The other is Lachie Henderson making his first appearance this year, his price is rather low if he can stay in the team.

Btw to go with my above post, the way im thinking is that getting Gablett for Robinson will make my midfield more solid and move beams to the EMG spot until Anthony returns (which i don’t mind waiting on)

    Robinson to Gablett
Mid = Gablett, Gibbs, Boyd, Dalziell, Selwood, Rich (Beams/Anthony)

Then if NG Brown returns within a week or so, it means i only have Skippy sittin on the pine with 1 of Walker or Brown subbing in for him and the other being an EMG.

Of course unless Pav or Gian drop in price dramatically before Skippy returns, this may change the setup.

But im leaning towards getting Gablett. Another captain option and makes my mids a bit more solid.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

I think Petrenko is safe for the time being.

The crows bench should look like:

Moran (or Stevens if he pulls through)
    Reilly
    Shirley
    Petrenko

    I hope anyway!

    April 24, 2009 at 1:01 am

Surely Shirleys spot is the most in danger compared to Petrenko and the others on the bench. Is Craig expecting him to hold his opponent to only 40 possies this week? 😛

SC Currently ranked 989 overall – weekly ranking third out of 309,000. I reckon that trading out Skippy is a waste of a trade.

The only guy who’ll make you real money up forward will be Ben Warren from North. The obvious trade right now is young Mitch Robbo for Hartlett from Port.

To me the Port kid has all the hallmarks of a 15 game first year player. He got a beautiful set of hands, is a good size and can kick better than most kids. He’s good good match awareness too, so he knows where to be to get it. And he’s quick. Better get Robbo out of there in 2 or 3 weeks to see of Carrazzo doesn’t get re-injured as he has done twice before.

I’m concerned about rumours about GAJ carrying a groin from the Adelaide game. I did a lot of work in Geelong this week and it was persistent and multi-sourced. But it is just hearsay, not fact.

I reckon young Ben Warren from North bears serious looking at. If any of guys need a $94K Skippy solution, you could do worse. Skippy will be back before June.

Expect my North to struggle against Richmond tomorrow night. Not a bad night night to do a smokey quarter quad. Richmond could easily win.

No one has mentioned the SKippy to Hale sideways trade or even Campbell Brown for a little bit more. Whats ur thoughts???

Thanks Croquet King for the advice – ill have a look at Symonds and see.

What does everyone think as Nahas as a quick cash cow swap for injured skipworth ??? i know he isnt the best by breakeven is -62 this week !!!!

  11. chris

    April 24, 2009 at 8:52 am

Still got 18 trades with only injuries being Skippy and Raines, benched Raines for his 4 weeks off. Thinking gonna trade Skippy for a forward rookie next week, then Gibbs for Ablett as Ablett killed me last week. Which means bit vunerable in forward line with 2 of Ziebell, M.Brown or Walker starting. Ziebell will be my next upgrade target in probably 3 or 4 weeks

  12. Chad

    April 24, 2009 at 9:10 am

Very nice to see greenwood get a game. Local Port Adelaide Magpie boy (moulds of Michael Wilson) and if he plays well could downgrade petrenko to greenwood in a couple of weeks.

  13. pete

    April 24, 2009 at 10:17 am

Chad i just did exactly what u sed to get gablett this weeek. not cause u sed it, just coincidental 🙂

  14. Greg

    April 24, 2009 at 10:57 am

Is anyone worried about Harvey getting such heavy tags lately? With wells getting injured he might cop it even more. I’m probably going to trade him in for Skippy, but its not a comfortable trade…

  15. fishtaylor

    pete stop copying chad.

    April 24, 2009 at 11:42 am

@Dave Hale is a superb idea, already dropped nearly $100k because of illness but 120 in Round 4 he’s way underpriced, breakeven about 75 despite the awful start!

  17. zenmaster

    April 24, 2009 at 12:03 pm

Stay calm men … remember your deep strategy and do not cast yourselves to the mercy of the first chill winds … we are all of One ocean and in the same fantasy boat … heed the words of mcwarne and trust ,,,

My team will carry a donut this week, but you should see the opposition … NGB scored only 64 points last week … we’ll hardly miss him – better he should rest that groin

  18. zenmaster

    April 24, 2009 at 12:11 pm

But for those of you addicted to panic … Mitch robinson and Ryan houlihan have both been named on the wings for the Northern Bullants

greg not to skippy injury prone

  20. benno

    April 24, 2009 at 12:20 pm

oi m0nty what’s the go with Jack Grimes? he’s not appearing on any of the regular injury lists … is he fit? changed his name perhaps to addam with two Ds?
as for hawthorn and their ‘indefinite’ listings … grrrrr

  21. steven

    April 24, 2009 at 12:29 pm

With Houlihan in the 2nd’s and Petrenko also on extended bench – Steve says Its Donut Time !!!

  22. torress

    April 24, 2009 at 12:39 pm

arhh the only donut im receiving this week (hopefully) is due to Koschitzke as i picked spencer and andrew browne as my back up rucks.
sorta tinkered with the idea of swapping one for meeson but wat a waste that wud be.
yea im currently 5200 in SC so i hoping ppl infront of me have MANY donuts and use LOTS of trades lol

Thanks for wasting 7 minutes of my life Steven & zenmaster, I want them back.
Everyone named on Carlton’s extended bench is named for the Bullants so working on this theory Carlton is going with a 0-man interchange. Innovative.

Superfist – was was merely commenting on zenmasters point !

Just one more thing – If it took you 7 minutes to read those 2 comments, you have a lot more to worry about in life than your dream team results. Good luck with it all !!! 🙂

  28. torress

    April 24, 2009 at 1:02 pm

how do u kno that houlihan is in the 2s?? i thought teams were not named til 5pm mate??
or r u just trying to stir the pot more??
that joseph bloke is apparently sore and they won’t play setana. it wud be that browne fellas 1st game and considering they really need to win i doubt that they wud play him against the dogs – thats a load of bollocks isn’t it??

  29. steven

    April 24, 2009 at 1:05 pm

I have not suggested i know anything about the final team list! i was just commenting that if he is in the 2nds as zenmaster suggested i will be getting a big fat donut for him this week !!!!

  30. azzacooney

    April 24, 2009 at 1:08 pm

subilax bro if u havent already got higgins then your a bad coach.

i got rid of skippy for barhan
    and upgraded hasleby for bartel
still got 150 000 in bank. carlton dogs should be a high point game for dt cmon gibbs!

  31. m0nty

    April 24, 2009 at 1:10 pm

Grimes is playing for Casey Scorpions at the moment, building match fitness. He played his first game last week in a back pocket, starting on the bench and managing a goal, and has been named this week on a wing.

nice behind closed doors info there monty keep it up

  33. Ben

    April 24, 2009 at 1:44 pm

That’s not closed door info, that’s a little bit of research in VFL results!

    Houlihan won’t play 2’s.

I have no donuts in my line-up. Perhaps the rumours about Monty preventing the EliteDreamTeamers from claiming #1 spot are true? j/k

  34. steven

    April 24, 2009 at 1:48 pm

i have a problem i have skippy but dont have enough to get a gun i av 82k in bank so 330k to get a forward i have walker to fill in but am i wasting points starting walker?
1)should i hold onto skippy for some1 to go down eg gian but this might take 2 wks and a possibility he wont drop enough
    2)downgrade skippy to a rookie
3)do 2 trades to get a good forward but all my players are still rising and wont make max profit from them?

  35. sean

    April 24, 2009 at 1:53 pm

Now, i’m not going to claim to be an expert. I’ve been following fanfooty since DT opened this year and across rounds 1-3 there was all this talk about no sideways trades.
Isn’t trading out Skippy for someone of equal or lesser value just that? Why not wait a week, and do a double trade? Trade out (for example) Beams/Robinson for Barham and use the extra $100k to get a $400k keeper for Skippy rather than a $290k player who you’ll want to trade out later in the season.

    Just my 2 bob.

  36. benno

    April 24, 2009 at 3:21 pm

@m0nty – thanks. well dean bailey, bring the grimenator back!
@Ben, no-one would recommend taking as gospel everything an opponent of yours says.
with trades, i figure the key is who yr playing in yr league. if yr opponent is a tough one and you’ll need every win to make the finals, then strengthen yr team. if you don’t need every point, hang on to skipworth, play a rookie and hope franklin or someone has a shocker this week to bring down his $

  37. taz

    April 24, 2009 at 3:33 pm

am getting rid of skippy, thinking of getting someone cheap like nahas or ben warren, not sure who tho. Warren only played his first game last week and it named in the hf line, nahas plays his 3rd but named 3rd on bench. who do i get??

  38. Jake

    April 24, 2009 at 3:50 pm

Hi guys I have knights, anthony, and robinson, therefore will have a donut this week if i do not trade.I have only used 1 trade so far so i can afford to trade this week. Im leaning towards a knights- ablett trade, however I have kept knights this long it seems pointless because I believe he will score well when he returns in a week or two. Thoughts anyone?

  39. steve

    April 24, 2009 at 4:03 pm

I to am tossing up skipwort for Nahas – ……. what to do !!!!

  40. Raf

    April 24, 2009 at 4:18 pm

Sean: Completely agree. If you’re not going to a cash cow or to a keeper, your trade is a mistake I reckon.

  41. Rusky

    April 24, 2009 at 4:28 pm

If your looking for a sideways trade for Skippy that still has value why not N.Krakouer?
It will cost you $39.2k in SC but he will still rise in value anyway. Averaging 100 points a game at the moment so might be a keeper as well.
Might be a donut solution if needed 😉

  42. Ben

    April 24, 2009 at 4:30 pm

    @Jake

Don’t let pride get in the way of a decision. You need Ablett, get him.

  43. steve

    April 24, 2009 at 4:38 pm

what if you dont have enough for N. Krakouer but still happy to trade Spikworth ??? Any one with sound advice

  44. taz

    April 24, 2009 at 4:38 pm

looking to trade skipworth for a $90,000 player to free up some cash, either nahas or warren, but not sure who will be more of a benfit.
    any suggestions??

  45. nickyt

    April 24, 2009 at 4:52 pm

Nahas is better value i think warren is to be dropped when anthony is fit.

  46. Jonny

    April 24, 2009 at 4:53 pm

Why is everyone trading for Hartlett and Warren this week, they have only played one game!!

  47. Jake

    April 24, 2009 at 5:07 pm

    taz
Will you be copping a donut if you don’t trade skipworth? If not it might be an idea to wait a week and hope that sidebottom gets a call up soon. Because I only believe in buying rookies who i know will increase a lot in value and average 70-80. Hence, i didnt jump on cheney when everyone did! Personally i’m keeping skipworth, i believe he will increase in value enough when he returns to warrant not trading him.

  48. Damo

    April 24, 2009 at 5:11 pm

Warren and Anthony play completely different roles.. Warren will be in danger if Campbell is fit quickly

  49. steve

    April 24, 2009 at 5:13 pm

    Good point Taz !!!

maybe Skppiworth gets another week in my team ! 🙂

  50. j drummo

    April 24, 2009 at 5:24 pm

it is the best option i can find, as i have no spare cash…
