    Nathan G Brown, ffs!

and as if Hogan didn’t come in!

Painful week ahead; also, hartlett or Barham? If down grade Robinson to Hartlett makes very little cash…

Actually thought Cousins and/or Raines would have been pushed through in the hope of getting on the board. Hard to see where their first win will come from really.

Robinson out compounds the Skipworth injury for me… I’ll have to make an early call on Barham/Coughlan/Hartlett which isn’t nice.

Just happy to see Chad Fletcher not in the 22, without his token clangers the Eagles are a chance!
Seriously though, nice to see Cheney still getting a gig on the extended bench, ven though he probably won’t play this week.
Shame about Mitch Robinson, but the writing was on the wall.
Jarrad Grant could be the answer that iron ore frontbum was supposed to be, not that I’m holding my breath!

    what’s with nathan g brown???

    robinson for ablett
    skipworth for M Clark

With Clark taking on #1 Ruck pos for brissy for the next 4-5 weeks I expect he’ll get some good numbers and make a bit of cash then I’ll trade him

N Brown benched replaced by M Brown

Not alot of comments from our intrepid reporter here I notice. Maybe thats because all of Montgomerys predictions and advice have gone pear shaped. Didnt notice Broughton, Suckling, SBottom, Hogan or Yarran make it in this week. Here my advice.
Stop trading as we are all in the same boat. I have done one trade for the season so far and thats to get Rance for Broughton. You must be there when the whips are cracking and from what I have seen on this site, it aint gonna be any of you lot.

who would u guys pick up for skipworth out of buddy, harvey or riewoldt? i think they are the best 3 options to chose from but i dont no which 1 i should go for

  12. Hibbo

    April 23, 2009 at 8:03 pm

    hmmm

Will cop a zero if I don’t trade out either Skipworth or NG Brown…Hopefully the footy show will shed some light on Browns injury, see how long he’s out for. Possible trade- Brown out: Rooy/SJ in…

    Or Skippy out for someone…

Or Downgrade Robinson and then upgrade Skippy…

    Hmmm, decisions decisions!

Extended bench for the Petrenk. You blokes reckon he’s set for the magoos this w/e. surely not, he’s been pretty servicable i would of thought

    AFL website says –

‘TIGER Mark Coughlan and Bulldog Robert Murphy make highly-anticipated returns from injury, Nathan Brown is ruled out with a groin complaint and Troy Simmonds has been dropped from the round five teams announced on Thursday night’

Terry Wallace is complaining about N.Browns groin

  18. Ev

    April 23, 2009 at 8:23 pm

dylan: I already have buddy, and so I’m going riewoldt. just not sure about harvey – but im no expert. buddy looks good too, and a lot cheaper atm – he wont drop any lower.

  19. j drummo

    April 23, 2009 at 8:30 pm

i have no real concern is skippy. i think my only options are:

    trade skip for ziebell

or put skip on bench for walker.

ziebell’s price will rise considerabley again after this week, so it is now or never. So am i at a disadvantage if i leave skippy? are there any advantages for not trdaing him now? he will be out for a month, and his price wont rise much higher, so i think it is best to trade him soon.

Also, is ziebell the best option under 400k (preferable lower than 300k)?

bugger the teams….where did you get those donuts m0nty???

  25. u mad?

    April 23, 2009 at 8:47 pm

damnit hate those extended benches. with a back bench of cheney and broughton, petrenko and houlihan better drag their a$$es onto that ground.

  26. Keza41

    April 23, 2009 at 8:48 pm

hmmm… was hoping that raines would be back this week. now i have to put up with another week of stephen hill being in the side.

Apart from that and petrenko maybe not playing i’m all good.

  27. Heater

    April 23, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Houlihan will play. He has not done much wrong this year so I’d be very surprised to see him out.

Seems like we are all in the same boat so there will be no panic trades from this little black duck.

Having said that I can only wait for Broughton to play for so long so perhaps next week….

should i trade out travis cloke?

  32. dylan

    April 23, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Petrenko will be playing unless there is a injury no1 knows about. Griff will be in for Maric and Stevens for Symes then there is also a chance of Cook or Jacky for Shirley

  33. oddsok

    April 23, 2009 at 9:06 pm

@m0nty: FYI Dons Pies Anzac day clash starts at 2.20pm not 2.10

  34. Disco (UK)

    April 23, 2009 at 9:17 pm

    Skipworth is priced $ 250800(DT)/306300(SC) averaging 81.8/85.5.

Roughly, upon his return if he averages:
    81.8/85.5 he will get to ~$ 363k/459k profit ~$ 113k/153k
    75 he will get to ~$ 333k/406k profit ~$ 83k/100k
    70 he will get to ~$ 312k/363k profit ~$ 62k/57k
    65 he will get to ~$ 285k/348k profit ~$ 35k/42k

He will make you some more money. However, looking at the fixture it looks bleak upon his 3 to 4 week return or after 1/2 VFL games (bar RT/MD):
    3 wks – R8 @ St Kilda
    4 wks – R9 @ Richmond
    5 wks – R10 Geelong
    6 wks – R11 Adelaide
    7 wks – R12 Melbourne
    8 wks – R13 Carlton

Wouldnt normally complain about Double D’s.
Except for the Dounle Donut that im facing.
I have P Burgs and Rainsey sitting on the bench and its not worth the trades to get rid of them. just going to have to bite the bullet. hope to stay in the top 2500 or so and come hope with a charge and plenty of trades remaining.

  36. mcwarne

    April 23, 2009 at 9:34 pm

Thats good advice “dontdropyadidaks”. But its going to go unheeded. I some some people who have done 2 trades every week so far. They are loonies. I am currently sitting 350 something with PBurgoyne, Raines, LAnthony, Hentschel, now Wade T (and probably Petrenko) all out. You just gotta hang tough and not trade.

  37. Hank jnr

  38. mcwarne

    April 23, 2009 at 9:37 pm

and Skippy and Spencer out too. Forgot about them!

  39. Croquet Kings

    April 23, 2009 at 9:40 pm

Lots of people have been hit by injuries this week.

I’ve been looking at the fwd trade for Skippy a lot this week.

For some unknown reason I had Osborne in my team and he has been on the bench since Rd 1.
Hentchel is also on my bench, while M Brown and Ziebell are playing.

As I’ve got $280k in the bank I could do most trades.

    My reasoning was:
Franklin – BE of 119 so even if he scores well won’t go up that much. He has a good run over the next 5 weeks against weaker sides. Pick up next week.
Harvey – Low BE of 77. Don’t think he’ll drop much more and should ave about 95 for you this year. Buy this week.
Riewoldt – BE of 90 so shouldn’t move too much. Has a hard run of games and his knee worries me. Without Kosi will be easier to mark. Wait 4 weeks and see.

Anyway I traded Osborne for Harvey and will start M Brown and Zeibell this week.

Also traded Jolly up to Cox for an extra $70k

    Currently ranked 1880 averaging 2018

all these people keeping skipworth i dont understand. my feeling, he was on the brink of selection before he did his hammy anyway. and when he is finally fit, theres prismal and welsh getting close to fit mid year. is it worth sitting on a player with a bit of cash behind him if that when he’s fit he might be in and out of the team anyway. all these people who are thinking of getting donuts just to hold onto him. i dont get it

  41. Athomas

    April 23, 2009 at 10:02 pm

No donuts for me. Got Robinson, Purgoyne, Skipworth, Anthony, Hentschel. Depth is nice 🙂

    Trading skippy but.

Can’t wait for Purgoyne back next week! 😀

  42. mcwarne

    April 23, 2009 at 10:10 pm

All these people Adam, would rather have 1 or 2 donuts now than 5 or 6 during the finals series because they blew their trades like a virgin in a knock shop in the first half of the season.

  43. Mangers

    April 23, 2009 at 10:22 pm

Second trade for the season….a sideways punt of Skippy for Lucas. I’m suprised that Lucas hasn’t been mentioned too much as a trade option for Skippy. He’s still averaging 70 and is likely to continue gaining in value.

  44. Steven

    April 23, 2009 at 11:10 pm

    Need advice…..

Got caught out last week by not trading Leuenberger and now some of possible trades have gone up in value… 🙁 So this week do I trade Leuenberger for consistant points and a steady rise in $$ value in Kurt Tippett from Adelaide or do i go rookie and buy John meeson from Melbourne and hope to get another cash cow…???
have already blown 4 trades this season. FYI Ruck stocks are Kruezer, J. pencer and S.Jacobs

    Constructive Advice please !!!!!

  45. PIESBOY

    April 23, 2009 at 11:13 pm

Im really thinking this week could break a lot of dream teamers (Monty if you think there has been agro this week – wait till next). I can see a huge swing in rankings for a lot of people this week.

Rookie backs falling down, what to do with Skipworth, NG not playing, Simmonds ommitted. Imagine if Cheney/Houlihan dont get a game from the extended bench – Didak may not play, Adcock could yet miss.

    Huge week!

  46. mcwarne

    April 23, 2009 at 11:27 pm

John Meesen eh, Steven? I’ll stand by the toilet with my finger on the flusher and you tell me you are about to throw 2 more trades in!

  47. craig

    April 23, 2009 at 11:37 pm

Well i’m pretty sure i’ve got 22 fit, and 3 on the bench that won’t play. So…. should be OK for now. Might think about trading Skippy next week…. hm… a few potential new rookies to watch out for.

  48. Croquet Kings

    April 23, 2009 at 11:51 pm

How many $ can you afford Steven?

  49. steven

    April 23, 2009 at 11:57 pm

McWarne – Dont wanna waste trades but ruck stock is only area letting me down –

Croquet King – If i sell Leuenberger only have $226,500 to play with – hence Tippett as likely option. Also considering getting ride of Skipworth… If so i would buy Brisbanes Clarke as a ruck and maybe buy Nahas ( $hit i know ) but cash cow option as break even score is -62…..

  50. Croquet Kings

    April 24, 2009 at 12:27 am

Steven – Tippett does look like your best trade option.
But given that you can’t get anyone with a decent average I can’t see any other obvious trades with the $ you have.
Some options maybe later down the track when you have a little for $ are Gardiner and Simmonds. Although Simmonds is out this week his price will continue to drop like a stone and in 2 weeks of playing you will pick him up for $250k.

My theory is it if isn’t a definite trade up and if you have any cover, just wait and see.
