    Things were looking great for Patrick Kerr last season as he built form in the VFL and played four games around the bye, booting a couple of goals and adding many more score involvements. Then he re-injured a hip in round 13 on which he had had surgery the year before, and ran out his season in the twos. He ended up with 22 goals from 12 VFL appearances at a rate of 66 fantasy points.
    The problem for Kerr is that Carlton recruited Mitch McGovern in the off season and with the spine already covered, there's not a whole lot of room in the depth chart if their first three choices are all fit. This is why Levi Casboult was trialled in defence in the preseason, though that doesn't appear to be Kerr's fate. His job security is virtually nil, unless he can clamber over injured bodies.
