Lance Franklin, Sydney Forward
Cold Franklin ruled out with tightness in his calf by ESNWed 6/2, 9:36PM
NEWS: Well can probably forget the past couple of player notes on Buddy. After talking him up before the All-Stars game and supporting his contract delay call, he has been swiftly ruled out of the match. Apparently scans revealed fluid build up at the top of his calf. The All-Stars captain had scans which confirmed the minor injury after experiencing tightness in the calf. Buddy had a Baker's cyst behind his knee which burst earlier in the week. It's not expected the injury will keep Franklin out of Hawthorn's NAB Cup matches against Brisbane and Gold Coast on February 23. However it is incredibly disappointing for this to happen. There's a lot going on for Buddy right now, we are now starting wonder how it will impact his 2013 season.

Nathan Grima, Essendon Back
Cold Cautious approach for Grima this summer by ESNWed 6/2, 9:24PM
NEWS: North Melbourne has taken a cautious approach with Nathan Grima this summer, hoping to avoid recurrences of the back and knee injuries that disrupted his previous two pre-seasons. "I've been training with a bit of continuity this pre-season, which has been nice," Grima said. "The whole time I've been [at North] I think I've only played one pre-season game and I got injured in that, so I'm looking forward to – touch wood – having a lot better pre-season campaign this year."

Gary Ablett jnr, Geelong Midfielder
Cold Ablett set for season start despite injuries by ESNMon 4/2, 10:03PM
NEWS: Gary Ablett is set to start the season at full fitness despite an injury interrupted past three months, and coach Guy McKenna says other midfielders are ready to step up and carry some of the onball load. The Gold Coast skipper has been limited by back and soleus problems that have restricted his time on the training track. But the Brownlow medallist has now resumed training and McKenna is confident he will be cherry ripe for round one. "It's not ideal, but Gazza's been around the block long enough to know what's needed, so I'm more than comfortable he's in good nick," McKenna said. "His training in Arizona (in November) was fairly solid and he got a really good base going. He's really happy with where his body is at, and if he's happy, I'm happy." Ablett had an interrupted pre-season leading into the 2011 season which resulted in a slow start but a huge finish. Could this perhaps be an indication for Ablett heading into 2013?

Ibbotson pushed into the midfield in 2012, however, he was likely to play a more defensive role this season after the departures of McPhee, Greg Broughton and Dylan Roberton.

Cold Gilbee charged with drink driving by ESNTue 29/1, 10:12PM
NEWS: Jacob Gillbee has been charged with drink driving after being pulled over for a routine breath test. "We have spoken with Jacob this morning and he is very embarrassed by the situation he finds himself in, and well aware he has let himself and the club down by making this unacceptable individual choice," Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft said.

Cold Elliot admits hard to get a game by ESNTue 29/1, 10:10PM
