The top candidates for the Collingwood coaching vacancy

The Magpies remain close to a month away from announcing their new senior coach, with COVID-19 related delays placing further complications on their interview process.

So far Collingwood are understood to have interviewed Richmond assistant coach Adam Kingsley and former Lions coach Michael Voss for the position as Nathan Buckley’s successor.

While the aforementioned pair are sure to offer plenty in the discussion for who Collingwood’s next coach will be, there are several high-profile names reportedly in the frame to join the coaching ranks for the 2022 AFL premiership season, a campaign bolstered by your bet365 referral code Australia.

Alastair Clarkson

The departing Hawks coach is set to gain widespread interest from across the league given his decorated CV at the helm of Hawthorn.

The most successful coach of his era, Clarkson will be on the radar of the Magpies – and Carlton – given his recent abrupt and now impending departure from his beloved club at season’s end.

With the stars now aligning, Collingwood are sure to fight tooth and nail to land the four-time premiership coach in hope of luring Clarkson to the Holden Centre.

Don Pyke

A sought-after coach, who like some, may be reluctant to take up the leading role at the Magpies.

Pyke has flourished in his assistant role with Sydney since heading east from his tenure at Adelaide, and is understood to be quite comfortable as John Longmire’s second in command.

While family is also a major focus for Pyke, the Magpies are sure to see the former Crows coach as a top candidate for their vacant spot.

Pyke was a stellar leader for Adelaide in their rise toward the top several seasons ago, and was perhaps the victim of an unjust fallout among the club and it’s playing group.

The Swans assistant is a strong candidate, but it remains to be seen whether he will look to return to the coaching hot-seat.

Adam Kingsley

The Richmond assistant has been heavily backed for the job given his key role in the Tigers’ recent success.

The former Port Adelaide player could be the unproven route the Magpies opt to take, as the majority of the other candidates have previously filled head coaching positions in the past.

Already held two interviews with the Magpies, Kingsley looks to be among the favourites for the job.

Looking for somewhat of a clean slate, Collingwood could see Kingsley as the perfect suitor to their young, exciting list.

Michael Voss

As mentioned along with Kingsley, Voss is understood to have already held discussions with Collingwood for the role.

The Port Adelaide assistant has been closely linked with a number of recent coaching vacancies, having thrived alongside Ken Hinkley at Alberton Oval.

The former Brisbane coach is being touted as a fitting candidate for the Magpies role, and would look to get the best out of the young squad.

A relatively failed tenure at the Lions a decade ago, the Brisbane champion looks set for another shot at senior coach, with Collingwood a strong possibility.
