NEWS: Ellis returned to the field in Round 20 after recovering from a 2 month knee injury. Team mate Jordan Lewis said "It's great to see him out there. He's had a tough year, but I think he's coming towards the end of this season fully fit and ready to go. The energy that he brings to the side and the flexibility [as well]. He can play midfield, he can play forward and kick goals like he did yesterday.

NEWS: General Manager - Football Operations, Mark Evans said "(He's) going well. We were a little bit worried when it first happened that it might be an extended time on the sidelines - maybe up to a couple of months. He's back up and running really well, and if he progresses well over the next couple of weeks, he could be back playing as well."

NEWS: Ellis will miss 6-8 weeks after straining the medial ligament in his knee in the VFL last Saturday. General Manager - Football Operations, Mark Evans said "He's having a terrible year to date (with injury). He's got a medium to high grade strain of the medial ligament, and he'll be on the sidelines for probably 6-8 weeks. Hopefully he can still play a strong role for us by the end of the season."

NEWS: Ellis's bad luck with injury continues on after sustaining a knee injury on the weekend in his return at VFL level. A Hawthorn spokesperson told AFL.com.au. "Ellis injured his medial ligament very late in yesterday's (Saturday's) game. The club will assess further early in the week." This is unfortunate news considering he was performing well in the match and likely close to getting named in Hawthorns senior side.

NEWS: Ellis had a troublesome 2011 campaign. Injury riddled and performance issues were of serious concern. He was an extremely high Draft Pick back in 2005 and was developing into a very good footballer before last year. He has nearly completed a full pre-season with no issues and it's believed he will move back into the Best 22 this year.
| ||||
NEWS: We hear word Ellis is recovering from an injury riddled 2011 season and is expected to be training with the main group in late January, early February. While being out of the game, others in Hawthorn have stepped up and Ellis is no longer a walk up player to the best 22. We suggest leaving him until form suggests other wise. | This is a 2012 outlook article.
