NEWS: Coniglio has been carrying a thumb injury for several games now, but GWS have decided to now have surgery on it and he will miss the next 4 matches. GWS football manager Graeme Allan told AFL.com.au "Stephen has had an excellent season so far and is one of four Giants players who've already been nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star. We look forward to him making a full recovery and being available to return to the side later next month."

NEWS: Coniglio will play in Greater Western Sydney's midfield, and across the half forward line. We can't wait to see him break onto the AFL scene. He is explosive, wins his own ball and his breakaway speed is exceptional. Compared by many to Adam Cooney with his added goal sense and superior skills. Coniglio received the Larke Medal as the best player in the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships. He won All Australian honours and was the best player for WA. Why is he AFL ready? His body is already built. He has been playing at league level in the WAFL giving him plenty of experience against grown men. He is a terrific leader and a future Captain of his team. In the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships he averaged 22 possessions, 2 marks, 4 tackles, and 1.6 goals leaving him with 95 Dream Team points a game over the 5 game carnival. Cash Cow Potential: Expensive, but plenty of upside and will play early and often.		This is a 2012 outlook article.

NEWS: Coniglio racked up 25 possessions and 3 marks for 75 points in the 2nd round of the NAB Cup. He looks certain for a Round 1 game, showing he is very skilful and explosive. But is his price just too high to be relevant? A 75 average would need to be the minimum for a strong cash cow option.
