Mumford is still in line to return in Round 5 for a huge match between Sydney and Hawthorn.

NEWS: Mumford has been named to play in Round 3 after withdrawing late last weekend with a back injury. Swans coach John Longmire told sydneyswans.com.au "Mumford got through training and probably did a bit more than we expected and felt really good, so if he pulls up OK he should be right. We are expecting him to pull up well and be OK to play."
| ||||
NEWS: Sydney Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron told sydneyswans.com.au "Shane's back unfortunately pulled up sore from the last training session so we had to pull him out of the game. He has improved since then and trained yesterday and we're happy with the way he's going, he just needs to get through training and pull up well on Thursday and then he'll be ready to go. He'll need to be able to (train) and pull up well and if he does he will be on the plane to Adelaide."

NEWS: John Longmire said "We were planning for 'Mummy' to play, he trained yesterday and was OK, and then I got a phone call this morning just before the reserves were about to start and they said he was tight. We had a look at him, took him out of the team and put (Mark) Seaby in." Mumford is experiencing tightness in his back.

NEWS: In the final hitout for the season, Mumford had a terrific match to give anybody rolling with him extra confidence. He was excellent finishing with 19 possessions, 2 marks, 8 tackles, 42 hitouts and a goal for 133 Dream Team points. He is shaping up to be a premium Ruck option in the Dean Cox class.
| ||||
NEWS: John Longmire has suggested that with the abundance of Ruck stocks Sydney has in Shane Mumford, Mark Seaby, Mike Pyke, Lewis Roberts-Thomson and Jesse White, they may rotate players in and out depending on match ups. The Ruck landscape has changed and each week teams come up against differing Ruck styles. We doubt Longmire is referring to Mumford, and more referring to who is the backup from week to week, however, it's not settling news.
| ||||
NEWS: Mumford is looking forward to taking his game to the next level in 2012. He is fit and firing after an injury free uninterrupted pre-season. He will have more support in the Ruck and spend more time on the field than ever before. Mumford is a top flight Ruck option, especially in SuperCoach.
| ||||
NEWS: Injury and Suspension are all part of Mumford's game unfortunately. On a positive note, explosiveness is on his side. Some of his scores to close out the season were of epic proportion. He is only 25 years old. You need Mumford to stop his disparity between unbelievable and ordinary. 140+ followed the week after by a 60-70 is plain uninspiring. His upside heading into 2012 is high. His value is higher in SuperCoach. | This is a 2012 outlook article.
