| NEWS: Gumbleton has not played AFL football since round 18, 2010 but amazingly had 14 possessions, 5 marks and kicked 3 goals in his return in Round 16 against Port Adelaide. Essendon coach James Hird said "I'm pleased, not as pleased as he is - don't worry, there's a lot of relief on Scott Gumbleton's face. We played him not knowing what we were going to get. We're just very happy for him ... for this football club that was a remarkable result out there. He competed, he contested, he wasn't the best player on the ground by any stretch of the imagination, but he showed he's going to be a very good player." | ||||

Gumbleton has set back in VFL

| NEWS: Gumbleton will return this weekend in the VFL after having off-season back surgery to recover from chronic hamstring injuries. Paul Hamilton, Essendon's general manager of football operations, told The Age, ahead of the game for Bendigo against Collingwood at Victoria Park "It's a good step forward for him. He's good. He's done a lot of work and we're happy he's got to this stage. We're happy that he's going to be out there getting a feel for the competitive part again." | ||||
