NEWS: Geelong coach Chris Scott said at Simonds Stadium on Wednesday morning "I read some comments attributed to him this morning and they made perfect sense to me. He'd like to play for a little bit longer than one year, and we'd like him to as well. We'll just do it in one-year contracts." Chapman told MMM radio at the weekend "As soon as you turn 30, you are looked at as an old man in footy terms.''

NEWS: Starting forward on Dempster... 1.3 from 16 possessions and 5 marks with 3 tackles

NEWS: Chapman suffered a calf injury and missed last weekend with the injury. Geelong believes Chapman will be available to play in Round 21 after just the 1 week on the sidelines. Sports medico Dr Peter Larkins said "The thing with a calf injury is it's pretty rare to just miss one [week] and Chappy, with his history and his age, I reckon if it's true [that] he's tweaked a calf, he wouldn't be able to sprint or do full training on it this week."
| ||||
NEWS: Chapman will not play in Round 20 after being a late withdrawal to take on West Coast with a minor calf complaint. He had until today to pass a fitness test, but they have decided not to risk him. Get him on your bench.

NEWS: After a 9th consecutive loss in a row by Hawthorn against Geelong, 'The Kennett Curse' was once again brought up in the media, but it has been suggested the name should be re-named 'The Chapman Factor'. Chapman just seems to deliver big time performances against the Hawks every time they meet finishing with 4 goals in a dominant display. He is certainly only doing himself justice in chasing a contract with Geelong bigger than 1 year in the future.

| ||||
NEWS: Starting deep forward on Fletcher... 12 disposals | Chapman contributed with 3 grabs, 4 tackles and 2.0 on the scoreboard.
| ||||
NEWS: As Chapman enters the twilight of his career, followers are discussing where best to play him. Journalist, Grantley Bernard said "He could almost be like Gary Ablett Senior was later in his career, when he had three straight seasons and kicked 100 goals as a full forward. There is no reason why Chappy can't be a small key forward, he's strong, you can't knock him off the ball, he can take a mark and he can kick a goal."

NEWS: Externally critics are questioning if Chapman should be playing forward or through the midfield and that his form is down. This comes as a great surprise to us considering his match winning effort last week and form for the year seemingly very strong. Internally Chapman is out of contract at year end. Geelong want to offer Chapman a 1 year contract but he personally wants 2 years and thinks he has 3 years left in him.
