Hot Ryder has huge performanceESN - Mon 9/4, 10:54PM
NEWS: In Round 2, Hille went down in the first quarter with a calf strain. James Hird said "We said to Paddy at quarter-time, 'mate, you're it and we'll give you a spell for Jake Carlisle for four or five minutes, but you're it' and he just embraced it. He's just really relishing the fact that he's in the ruck and spending a lot of time there. We're seeing the player that we've all wanted to see. Paddy Ryder is a terrific player and will only get better and it was great to see him dominate as he did." Hille will miss 3 weeks with the injury, leaving Ryder as an excellent premium option. He seems poised for a break out this year.

Hot Giants have given up on signing RyderESN - Sun 25/3, 1:50PM
NEWS: According to the Herald Sun, The Greater Western Sydney Giants have privately conceded they will not be able to bring Ryder across at season end. The Essendon Bombers have basically re-signed the big man to a future contract with just formality taking place. This has been an incredible run for Essendon, who have not lost 1 player to the 2 new franchises over the past 2 years.

Hot All eyes on RyderESN - Sat 24/3, 9:54AM
NEWS: Ryder is the next high profile Essendon Bomber out of contract at year end. After completing a deal for Michael Hurley yesterday, James Hird believes all attention is now on Patrick Ryder. He recently mentioned "we're in discussions with Patrick Ryder about his contract, so we're very keen to get that signed up as well.I think a lot of clubs go through this, where you want to sign your best young players and your best players and know that for the next two or three years you've got all of your players on contract."

Hot Ryder looking impresiveESN - Sat 10/3, 8:45AM
NEWS: In the 3rd Round of the NAB Cup, Ryder looked very sharp and perhaps ready to put his rocky 2011 season behind him. He finished with 12 possessions, 7 marks, 1 tackle, 10 hitouts and 4 goals for 83 Dream Team points. If Ryder is going to pinch hit in the Ruck in 2012, he certainly has the potential of returning strong numbers.

Cold Ryder struggles in NAB CupESN - Tue 21/2, 8:34AM
NEWS: Lets hope this is not a precursor to the season proper. Ryder was not able to influence the game on the weekend in either match, especially in the Ruck, drawing negative attention to himself. Ryder struggled all last season with confidence issues, but got some momentum late in the year. Lets hope he is not going down the same road again with this performance.

2012 OutlookESN - Wed 1/2, 9:34PM
NEWS: Ryder had a terrible first half of the season last year, struggling in particular with his confidence. He wasn't himself and all moves were made to try and bring him into games. They even tried him in defence for a few games as a shutdown defender. His skills for his height make him a dangerous player. His position is as an athletic Ruck who drifts forward and kicks goals. He had a bad year but finished strongly averaging 104 a game in Dream Team and 116 a game in SuperCoach in his final 4 matches. We expect a bounce back season. This is a 2012 outlook article.
