NEWS: Waite was withdrawn late in Round 17 from playing for VFL affiliate Northern Blues. The Carlton Blues decided to take a cautious approach on the key position forward.
| ||||
NEWS: Waite will play in the VFL this weekend as he fast approaches his return to AFL football. Carlton Coach Brett Ratten said "He's one that will be right to play. We've got the debate about whether we bring him up. It would be a huge risk to bring him up at senior level knowing his history with injury and then how does he get through? He might get through this week, but then what effect does it have next week? He's one we would just love to rush straight back, but if he broke down again or had an injury ... we want to make sure he finishes the year really strong."
| ||||
NEWS: Waite will take no part in the upcoming season defying matches against Collingwood and Hawthorn, as he continues to battle a back injury. Blues coach Brett Ratten "We've known what it is but how you actually get the back moving without any pain or stiffness, that's been the real thing that we've been trying to work out and manage."
| ||||
NEWS: Waite has been suffering from a back injury. Carlton Coach, Brett Ratten told the Herald Sun "When we came back [from Perth], he felt good over the weekend and he has jumped into it, so that's a real plus. As we've said, it (the injury) could come to hand really quickly. We'll monitor it day by day as to how it responds."
| ||||
NEWS: Truth be told Carlton are yet to diagnose the injury properly and his return could be still 6 weeks off. Carlton Coach Brett Ratten said "I'm not sure when he'll be available and he'll definitely have to go back and play at VFL level to get some fitness back now. That'll be sort of four, five, six weeks and the competition's so demanding ... He'll definitely have to go back and play at VFL level. He's not running at the moment, so that's what we're sort of talking about in the fact he's just de-training every week and losing fitness."

NEWS: Carlton coach Brett Ratten is concerned about Waite's back injury and said at Visy Park on Wednesday "It hasn't responded the way we'd like and it was one of those things where he's done a fair bit of work, so do we push him earlier in the week to try and get him up, or allow him two weeks of taking a different tack with it? It's now up to the medicos ... they've set a plan for him. Hopefully he gets up for the Cats, but [even if he does] he's missed a bit of footy, so that will be the next conversation - where do we play him if he is right? We don't know when he's going to be right at the moment. We just have to wait and see. I suppose it's becoming serious with the length that he's out for ... it's something that has probably frustrated [him]."

NEWS: Coach Brett Ratten said on Thursday there was a "question mark" over Waite's availability for this week. Waite is suffering from a back complaint and will miss Carlton's important clash with Adelaide.

NEWS: Carlton are certainly hurting in their defensive stocks at the moment with Michael Jamison, Nick Duigan and Jeremy Laidler all to miss the Thursday night season opener for the Blues. This does not change the fact that Waite will start forward and Lachie Henderson is expected to start on the dangerous Jack Riewoldt.
