NEWS: O'Meara has already completed two pre-seasons and played NAB Cup. The expectations are he will play seniors often. Suns coach Guy McKenna admitted he spent the past year wishing he could select O'Meara and says there is no doubt he is ready to go. "He certainly doesn't look his age, he looks like a man ready to play football," he said. "He has done everything he can to give himself every chance to play Round 1." | ||||

NEWS: O'Meara had a hernia operation over the off-season but has already re-joined the main training group in anticpation of his debut in the 2013 season. The Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft said "All we can be confident in is we know he is prepared mentally and physically and we know he is itching to get out there to play so what that translates to out there on the field we're not quite sure. He is a very level headed young man. I think he has got high expectations of himself but also realistic ones at the same time. I think you'll see him going out next year pretty confident in his ability to play senior footy but also realistic that playing AFL footy is a tough caper. He knows that but he is well prepared." | ||||

NEWS: O'Meara will have season ending groin surgery as the Gold Coast Suns prepare to get his body right for his first season in the AFL next year. Suns general manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft told the club's website "Jaeger's surgery has been on the radar for some time and following consultation with our medical team, the surgeon and Jaeger, we determined that it would be in his best interests to have surgery during the back half of this season." | ||||

NEWS: O'Meara is the big 17 year old talent traded to the Gold Coast. How good is he? Gold Coast gave up Pick #4 in the 2011 National Draft to Greater Western Sydney for the rights to him. He will be a Rolls Royce of the Suns midfield in future years with breakaway speed and an impressive array of skills. In the NAB Under 18 AFL Championships he averaged 21 possessions, 5 marks and 5 tackles leaving him with 85 Dream Team points a game over the 5 game carnival.
