NEWS: Nathan Jones recently told reporters, "I spoke to Grimesy this morning and he got through, which is a super positive. Any little niggles that he had previously and his shoulder are all fine, from what he said. He's put himself up for selection and hopefully he's back this week." Grimes played on the weekend at VFL level, getting through fine but did not get a lot of the ball. He certainly holds risk if you are thinking of putting him in your side.
| ||||
NEWS: Grimes will test out his shoulder in a final hitout this weekend at VFL level before the AFL season begins. If all goes to plan he should be ready to go in Round 1 against the Brisbane Lions at the MCG.

NEWS: Grimes was aiming to play this weekend in the final NAB Cup fixture, but has been held back as a precautionary measure. Melbourne have indicated they will play him at VFL level the following week in the first round of the VFL, to get some run in his legs before the season begins. Grimes is suffering from a shoulder injury.
| ||||
NEWS: After speculation of the damage Grimes may have done to his shoulder as he walked off the training track in pain, the good news is simply 2 matches. He is aiming for a return in the final round of the NAB Cup.
| ||||
NEWS: Grimes had a collision with defender Troy Davis. He left the ground in serious pain. Grimes must be removed from all teams until further notice. This is a huge blow for the newly appointed Co-Captain of Melbourne. He has had trouble with injury his entire career.
| ||||
NEWS: He will lead the Melbourne Demons into 2012 with Jack Trengove. Lets hope Grimes is able to lead it on the field this year. He has had issues with durability over the years. He is an exceptional leader though. Hopefully 2012 is his year to shine.
| ||||
NEWS: He has only played in 47% of games over the past 3 seasons. Durability is not his strong suit. His upside is substantial, but there seems far too many similarities between him and Shaun Higgins. If you're going to role the dice on him, then don't wait. He is not a slow starter. If he is at full health heading into Round 1, as in previous seasons coming in from injury he has had no problems adjusting to AFL level. | This is a 2012 outlook article.
