NEWS: Shiel has been suffering from an appendicitis over pre-season and has not featured in NAB Cup action. He is about to become a very popular pick in fantasy teams, after being named in the side to take on the Sydney Swans. He is a very talented footballer. He had an excellent junior career, finding plenty of the ball.
| ||||
NEWS: Shiel was pre-selected by Greater Western Sydney at the end of 2010. He is a strong midfielder who likely would have slotted in at Pick #3 in the national draft, ahead of Dom Tyson if he wasn't pre-selected. Do not be fooled by these pre-selected picks. They are very good football players who have gone under the radar. They have also already had full seasons together playing for the GWS team at lower level. In 2010 Shiel played for the Dandenong Stingrays at TAC Cup level averaging 105 Dream Team points a game over 7 games. Last year playing for Greater Western Sydney in the NEAFL (Queensland league), he averaged 96 Dream Team points a game over 10 games. He is as tough as nails and loves winning the hard ball. His body is ready for AFL. Cash Cow Potential: Shiel is suffering from an appendicitis. Scheduled to be back in Round 2. This seems optimistic given he has not played in the NAB Cup yet. But certainly relevant. | This is a 2012 outlook article.

NEWS: Shiel has had a strong pre-season until recently, according to the AFL website, "Shiel was then struck down by appendicitis four weeks ago". This was a damaging blow to the up and coming midfielder. He played over the weekend in the reserves and was impressive, but it would be a big call to bring Shiel in next weekend without any NAB Cup action. We still expect to see him early in the season.

NEWS: This is far from ideal. It's unknown at this stage how severe the injury is. We will update you, when official word is given from the club.
