NEWS: Lake was completely undisciplined striking Tom Simpkin from St Kilda in the face when his side was down by 82 points in the final quarter. What was he thinking? Adam Cooney spoke at Whitten Oval on Tuesday about how disappointed the club was saying "Everyone was, (but) obviously no one was more disappointed than Brian himself. He let the frustration get to him a little bit. He'll cop his week (suspension) and work hard on the track and come back next week and prove to everyone (that he's) a really great player for us."

NEWS: Lake has been charged with a level three striking offence after a Round 3 incident in the final quarter against Tom Simpkin from St Kilda. Lake will need to accept the early plea.
| ||||
NEWS: In the final quarter of a horrendous night for the Western Bulldog's, Lake was reported for an off the play strike to Saint, Tom Simpkin's chin. It was not as severe as the Matthew Scarlett- Hayden Ballantyne incident, so expect less than 3 weeks.
| ||||
NEWS: Has Koschitzke.. 9 marks and 18 disposals. Reported in Q4 for a rather soft punch.
| ||||
NEWS: 10 marks and 23 possessions. Back to his old role of zoning off Tippett in defence.
| ||||
NEWS: In Round 1 of the AFL season 30% of fantasy coaches selected Brian Lake in their team. This is shaping to be a bad move after he finished the game against West Coast with 8 possessions for 29DT/30SC. He played deep in defence on the resting Ruck option and seemed like he had no interest in the game.
| ||||
NEWS: Looked completely disinterested in working hard to get the ball... 8 disposals with 3 marks. Deep in defence on the resting ruckman which is often Cox.
| ||||
NEWS: Lake played a half of football last week, and pulled up with no issues. The Western Bulldogs coaching staff are contemplating letting the flood gates open, and seeing what Lake can do with a full game.
| ||||
NEWS: It was two minutes into the first quarter, when the ball was pumped inside 50. Lake pushed Hampson under the ball, lent back and took a mark in the Bulldogs defensive 50. It looked like the Lake of old. It is looking possible we could see the rebound season all have wanted. The question mark on the game, was Lake not playing the McCartney game plan of target hitting, as he regularly bombed it out of the defence, only to see it come back over his head for goals. He will adjust after the coaches speak with him. A successful half of football on his return and with the injury to Tom Williams he will be needed.
| ||||
NEWS: Lake has openly discussed his frustration in last year's performance. In particular a match against Geelong where he was heavily criticized for under performance and disinterest. Lake believes he was aware afterwards how it looked, but he was simply frustrated with his performance and trying to hold it in. He was the opposite to disinterested. Lake has spent the pre-season on a modified program with high hopes of getting his body back into shape, ready for a strong rebound season.

NEWS: After limping off the ground in the morning, it has been reported as only a corked leg and he is still available and expected to play on the weekend. It is still undecided if Lake will play in Round 1, with his fitness base currently not at AFL level. It will be established more clearly where he stands in the coming few weeks.
| ||||
NEWS: Lake came out of a training contest today, limping on his right leg. He jogged into the rooms for treatment. No news on the severity yet.
| ||||
NEWS: Assuming Lake can get through training this week, we will see him play in the second round of the NAB Cup this weekend. This will be a great opportunity to see how he is traveling after a disastrous season last year, suffering from injury and form issues.
