| NEWS: The 19 year old didn't play last year, recovering from surgery on his hip. His agility is top of the class, winning the testing at the Draft Combine. We worry that Geelong is a tough team to break into, especially early. But last year it was done, so it's possible. Smedts is having a terrific pre-season, however, recently Chris Scott has openly discussed the idea that Smedts is a little overhyped. He looks polished and skilful when he goes near the ball, but it has to be taken into consideration, that he hasn't played a lot of football over the past 2 years. | NEWS: Geelong are extremely excited to have Smedts back from injury and fit and firing heading into 2012. Steve Johnson believes "he's got so much talent. If his body can hold up, I expect him to play 15, 20 games this year." Smedts is shaping as a very relevant Cash Cow. | ||||

| NEWS: After a strong performance in the 3rd round of the NAB Cup, Smedts looks a a strong chance to play in the opening round of the home and away season. He finished with 14 possessions, 4 marks, and 2 tackles for 57 points. He played across half back, being creative and reading the play well. | ||||

| NEWS: It's far from ideal to hear this from the Coach. Chris Scott was impressed with Smedts form in the NAB Cup, suggesting he is showing a lot of promise, however, Smedts didn't get a great deal of the ball. He also has not played very much football over the past 2 years battling injury. | ||||

He is earmarked to play a running half back role this year with an uninterrupted pre-season. Should he be on your radar? Yes. He is liked so much by the coach, that a running joke at the club last year was that he would be picked for the Grand Final. (He was out injured after surgery on his hips) | ||||
