NEWS: On the resting ruckman... 7 marks and 10 disposals

NEWS: It has been a rollar coaster ride for Rutten over the pre-season with his most recent setback limping off the training track on Monday, not expected to hold him out of the team on the weekend. Brenton Sanderson recently spoke about Rutten saying "He trained fully (on Wednesday), did all the drills, looked really sharp. The set back we saw on Monday was just something very minor."
| ||||
NEWS: Rutten was already questionable for the Round 1 match against Gold Coast, but now has added further instability after he limped off the Adelaide Crows training track on Monday. The Adelaide Crows wrote on Twitter "Ben Rutten left the track early today. Soreness in same foot, but not same spot as surgery, so have to wait and see how he pulls up."
| ||||
NEWS: The Adelaide Crows assistant coach Mark Bickley mentioned "In terms of fitness it looks really good for him, I guess the thing we need to do is make sure he gets plenty of touch - he hasn't done a whole lot of training so we'll endeavor to get him to touch the ball as much as we can over the next 10 to 12 days."
| ||||
NEWS: Rutten is training in full and keen to play in next weekends Grand Final against West Coast.
| ||||
NEWS: His surgery has been labelled a success and he completed a mini training camp over the weekend without any issues. He is an important piece in the Crows defence, who they would love to have in the team come Round 1. Rutten is suffering from plantar fasciitis, which is a foot injury.
| ||||
NEWS: This may be an unwise decision to rush Rutten back. Plantar fasciitis can be a lingering injury if you don't give it time to recover. As keen as Rutten is to return, you would think the Doctors will have the final say anyway.
| ||||
NEWS: The surgery is for plantar fasciitis. They estimate he will be out for 6 weeks but do not be surprised if it is more. This is a very common injury for Running Backs in the NFL. It causes a great deal of pain when they pivot and change direction. Rutten will face a great deal of pain this season and will be in and out of the team resting if they rush him back to fast. This injury needs one thing and one thing only. A great deal of rest.
