Hot Wilkes has 5 goalsESN - Mon 13/8, 9:02AM
NEWS: In Round 20 St Kilda lost Riewoldt early in the game and Wilkes was needed to step up in his absense. Team mate Leigh Montagna told AFL.com.au "He's been terrific. He needed a lot of work to get his conditioning right and get his body in great shape, and he's done that. To his credit, he's really making the most of his second chance. I think he's just loving being back in an AFL system and whenever he comes in and plays seniors, he always plays really well for us. His attitude has been terrific. He doesn't get too disappointed if he gets dropped; he knows every time he gets a chance he's going to make the most of it."

Cold Wilkes subbed off as he catches fireESN - Sun 29/4, 12:00PM
NEWS: Wilkes was subbed out of the game in the 3rd quarter, just when he started to make his presence felt in the forward 50. St Kilda Coach Scott Watters said after the game "We made the decision to get him off [because] we thought we needed to go a little bit smaller. It was Beau's first hit-out back at this level too so that's pretty taxing. He then takes a mark 55m out ... slots a great goal. We tried to reverse the call at that point.Unfortunately the paperwork had gone in and it was one of those ones that once the call had been made ... we couldn't reverse it at that point."

2012 OutlookESN - Wed 21/3, 6:54PM
NEWS: Wilkes is another mature aged recruit who played in the WAFL last year, and won the Simpson Medal as the best player on the ground, kicking 5 goals leading his side to victory. At 23 years of age, he spent his earlier years on the West Coast Eagles rookie list but was only given an opportunity late. He was a key defender who played 23 games between 2008 and 2009 and was delisted in 2010 after being injured all season. That was the changing of the guard where he represented Claremont in the WAFL and was shifted forward to show he has the potential of playing at both ends of the ground kicking 40 goals for the season. Cash Cow Potential: Wilkes is targeting a start in the position vacated by Dawson at the end of last season. Quite surprising that he starts in the position which led him to being delisted by West Coast in 2010. He won't be a fantasy superstar but he looks like quite a reliable player to have. This is a 2012 outlook article.
