NEWS: Andy Otten has trimmed down this pre-season wanting a starting position in the Crows side. "I wanted to trim down a bit and get my speed, agility and repeat effort levels as good as they could be," Otten said. "I've been able to do drop a couple of kilos and I'm pretty happy with where I'm at. You do notice it and the coaches have said they can see the difference in my movement out on the track. I feel a bit lighter on my feet and more agile."

NEWS: Otten has had surgery to repair a torn medial cartilage in his knee sustained in Round 17 against West Coast. He will miss 6 weeks and aim to be back playing again around finals.Coach Brenton Sanderson said the extent of Otten's injury came as a surprise. "It came out of left field for us a bit I guess. We weren't prepared for that. Andy went back with the flight of the ball in a marking contest, got crunched and his knee worried him a little bit for the rest of the game. He played the game out with it, but the surgeon found something in the scan and it's better to have it operated on now. He'll be fine and hopefully back ready for September."

NEWS: Otten returned back into the Crows senior side in Round 17 after team mate Sam Shaw suffered an eye injury in the previous round. Otten has not played since Round 6 but took the opportunity with open arms and kept West Coast's leading goal kicker to 2 goals. Otten told afc.com.au after the game "I've played on Jack a few times now and we're creating a bit of a rivalry out there. It was just good to be back in the team. It was unfortunate for ‘Shawy' going out. I hope his eye is better soon, but you've got to take your chances when they come. I've been waiting patiently and was really eager to get back in. It's hard when the team is in good form and keeps winning. You can't make changes for the no reason and Shawy has been playing well. I've had to be really patient and clear with what the coaches want out of me. I just had to keep performing, knocking down the door and knew eventually I'd get a chance. I finally got that chance and now that I'm back in, I don't want to go out again."
