Injured Cooney still a chance to return this yearESN - Thu 16/8, 4:32PM
NEWS: It seemed reasonable to think that with the Western Bulldogs sitting in 15th place and Cooney suffering from a knee problem, they would shut him down for the season but it seems Cooney has something to prove before the end of 2012. Dogs assistant coach Steven King said "I think Adam himself just wanted to get to the stage where he knew, going into next year, he's set himself up to even continue a solid leg-weight program and rehab program during the break. I think it's just for his own peace of mind, just to get back to that level. Whether he plays or not, just to know, 'Yep, I'm back in full training, I'm ready to go, and this is where I've got to go to move forward'."

Injured Cooney a chance Round 18ESN - Tue 24/7, 5:04PM
NEWS: Cooney has missed the past 3 weeks of the season with his ongoing knee injury but is a chance to return this weekend. Western Bulldogs Captain Matthew Boyd believes "He would be a chance...his mindset has been really positive around the group and he is doing everything he can to get back and playing for us this year. He's progressing well - he is progressing better than he was this time last year so that is a real positive for us and for Adam."

Injured Cooney could be shutdown for the seasonESN - Tue 17/7, 5:06PM
NEWS: Cooney is set to miss his 3rd straight match in a row in Round 17 against Carlton this weekend with his degenerative knee problem. Western Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney when questioned about shutting Cooney down for the season didn't say no to the idea suggesting "There's still a lot to be played out with that. (There's) still seven weeks to go and the last thing on our mind is looking at next year. We want to play better footy than we've played and we want all of our list to keep progressing and learning how we want them to play and keep working on their individual games, and Adam's part of that." Pressed further McCartney said "Possibly."

Injured Cooney could miss another weekESN - Thu 12/7, 10:08AM
NEWS: MIssing games comes with the package now unfortunately. Cooney has a knee issue and it will hamper him for the remainder of his career. He missed Round 15 and is still questionable for the upcoming round against Hawthorn. Western Bulldogs assistant coach Shannon Grant said "'Coons' has definitely benefited from the week off and it's probably too early in the week to tell whether he will play or not. But we'll certainly monitor him throughout the course of the week to see how he comes up."

Injured Cooney misses trainingESN - Thu 28/6, 1:19PM
NEWS: Cooney was not sighted at training on Thursday as he continues to battle his well known knee injury. He finished in Round 13 with just 11 possessions, and looks to have lost his bounce that we once marveled at. It is a sad story for a player who could have littered his name through the history books past just the 1 Brownlow Medal. Western Bulldogs teammate Liam Picken told the media "'Coons' has got a different sort of training phase, so he's in the gym working out. He does a combination of things. There's guys who weren't out (training) today but they'll be out tomorrow." They expect Cooney to play in Round 14.
