NEWS: Starting forward on Brown... 16 disposals and 3 tackles | Merrett also had 4 marks.
| ||||
NEWS: Cameron Thurley was a late replacement in the Cats side against the Swans in round 15, and was one of the few bright spots for his team, kicking three goals and missing two other shots from 13 possessions. | Thurley had not played the four previous matches, but with the Cats so ravaged by injury and illness he might get more games towards the end of the year. He might be a late-season smokie to score heavily if the Cats can manage to turn their form around.
| ||||
NEWS: The ball seemed to be stuck to Leigh Colbert's hands in the round 15 game against West Coast, with the flooded backline giving him plenty of opportunity to take relieving marks. He finished with 12 of those, and an impressive 29 disposals. | The Roos won't play two extra men in thier backline every week, but when they do flood, Colbert usually profits in fantasy numbers. He's very much worth keeping in your team every week.
| ||||
NEWS: Saverio Rocca had to wait until deep into the last quarter to kick his one and only goal for the night in the round 15 loss to the Eagles. He spent much of the rest of the match watching Nathan Thompson star in Rocca's preferred spot of full forward. | Rocca's form last week had caused some to think that maybe Thompson and Rocca could co-exist in the same forward line. Sav's star is waning, however, and Thompson continues to impress the longer he is put at full forward.
| ||||
NEWS: Cameron Thurley was a late replacement for Steve Johnson in round 7 against the Saints, and he showed why he is reputedly the best kick for goal at the club by slotting two majors from seven possessions. | Thurley will get a few more games this year based on this performance, but it will take better numbers than that to perk up fantasy interest.
| ||||
NEWS: Leigh Colbert took 10 marks and had 18 possessions in round 1 against Carlton, acting as the lynchpin of a very solid defence. | Colbert will play more than his target of 15 games for the year on this form.
| ||||
NEWS: Saverio Rocca booted four goals from nine possessions and eight marks as the Kangaroos beat Carlton in round 1. | Rocca benefited from Blues full back Luke Livingston's injury, but this form is good news for Sav's fantasy stocks.
| ||||
NEWS: Corey McKernan was kept out of the round 1 Kangaroos team to play Carlton to rest his sore shoulder. | When fit, McKernan should figure prominently in fantasy coaches' plans.
| ||||
NEWS: Justin Perkins has been picked as the rookie who will be available for senior selection for the Kangaroos this year, due to a special AFL rule concerning the number of veterans on a senior list. | Perkins will be treated by FanFooty as a senior player. He will not attract much fantasy consideration, however.
| ||||
NEWS: Corey McKernan will play in round 1 despite injuring the AC joint in his shoulder in a trial match against St Kilda, according to afl.com.au. | It could have been much worse for McKernan. Expect his fantasy production to be a little down while he fully recovers.
| ||||
NEWS: Injury-prone Leigh Colbert told afl.com.au that he was hoping to play in at least 15 of the 22 rounds this season, after enjoying a trouble-free preseason. | When fit, Colbert is a decent option on fantasy backlines, but he hasn't played a full year since 1996. Will probably be eased out over the course of the season in favour of Eddie Sansbury.
| ||||
NEWS: Troy Makepeace had an impressive game rebounding from half back in the second round Wizard Cup match against the Power, getting the ball 19 times with four marks, and even sneaking forward for a goal. | Someone has to pick up the slack from the retiring David King as the rebounding specialist backman, and Makepeace might be that player. Worth a look in the late rounds of preseason drafts.
