More than happy Laser Beams is playing. He’ll play plenty of games this year.

SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT RE: CATS

Thompson suggested the team that is picked tonight may not be the 22 that takes the field tomorrow night the MCG, with the team’s five-day turn-around presenting selection difficulties.

“There will be a couple of other changes, I think it’s important we put fresh people in,” he said.

“If anyone hasn’t pulled up to play this game, then they probably shouldn’t be playing, so there’ll probably be two or three changes.

“It’s a five-day turnaround, so we can’t really be clear on your side after four days. Don’t read too much into the team and just understand it might not be the team that lines up tomorrow night.”

Would anyone like to davel in Leigh Harding?

What about all these rumours about Ablett having an ankle injury? Thompson’s comments don’t make me feel any easier about the chances of him being a late withdrawal. Ordinarily he’d be my lock as captain for both DT and SC but this week I am wary. Thinking of opting for Stevie Johnson, Dean Cox or maybe even deledio as captain instead. Thoughts?

@ Demin Dan – “davel in Leigh Harding”? WTF does that mean?

I already had Gibbs and S. Johnson in my team from prior to NAB cup… 😛

What the heck are you talking about Lee “Davel” is a perfectly kromulant word.

    April 9, 2009 at 12:13 am

Lee, in SC you have your ViceCaptain option so why wouldn’t you have Gablett as your Capt anyway. If he doesn’t play then Cox or StevieJ can take his place as Vice.

  15. same as last week

    April 9, 2009 at 12:15 am

Daisy and Tuck made my dt life a wee bit difficult last week. Takes an injury to give Beams a chance, should have been in for toovey from the start of the season. Hats off for the Simpsons quote

Does anyone know where I can get a Canadian Tuxeudo? OR some information on whether Leigh “Rodent” Harding is going to be a good pick up this year?

drfaust and your friend in denim, you are both very amusing gentlemen.

Benno – this ‘strange’ tidbit popped up a few days ago here in FF:

LATEST NEWS FROM FANFOOTY – Sun 5/4, 11:03AM Ablett Injury by twinks

NEWS: Ablett is off on Monday/Tuesday for scans on the ankle he hurt last year against Freo. Rolled it at recovery this morning.

*** Has been nothing mentioned anywhere else though – at least what I have seen ***

simonoz: that was a troll. Pay it no mind.

  23. drFaust

General Soreness is geelong speak for omitted. Brynes will make a flog of himself soon enough and one of Hogan/Gamble will replace him.

    April 9, 2009 at 1:58 pm

    @ monty

i will not be able to make changes to my team later than now

i have hill on field and raines on bench

do u think i shud make trades or prey for hill to be selected??

    cheers

with stokes back in the team how do you think johnsons numbers will be affected?

  28. haryscary

    April 9, 2009 at 4:22 pm

MONTY – I would be very interested to see how your team projections compared to the actaul round 1 teams. I feel you got it pretty wrong in many cases. Rather that positions perhaps list your projection against the actual teams to see how close you were.

    What do you think>?

  29. drFaust

    April 9, 2009 at 4:26 pm

@ Vic. Stokes coming back won’t effect SJ’s numbers at all. SJ finds his own ball up the ground enough to ensure he’ll score well most weeks…shame I don’t have him this year 🙁

  30. vic

    April 9, 2009 at 5:44 pm

coz on the team sheet stevie J is listed at forward pocket and stokes is half forward flank
but i guess i shouldnt be reading too much into the team sheets

  31. Tim

    April 9, 2009 at 6:57 pm

haryscary – what was the point of your post?

Monty had a crack and most of his projections were an accumulation of opinion from various fan sites. It was the perfect summary of possible inclusions. Saved me hours trawling individual team sites as I put my team together. It mattered not if they ended up being right as we all got a chance to see the final teams.

Is that what you do all day – hide in the shadows then shoot people down who’ve tried to help others?

  32. Palmer10

    April 9, 2009 at 7:12 pm

can someone PLEASE tell me a good trade for bock ive got enough for anyone

  33. Charlie

    April 9, 2009 at 7:22 pm

    Don’t trade Bock.

    1. I don’t think you should anyway because I think he’ll only miss a week or two (two donuts not worth wasting a trade on a gun), but even if you do…

    2. There’ll be 2-3 uber-gun backmen heaps cheaper next week (Goddard, Hodge etc.), while Bock’s price stays the same.

  34. Dicko

    April 9, 2009 at 7:25 pm

Palmerio – Why trade him? He’ll be back next week or the week after, and probably eager sto do the right thing by his team and all of us that have kept him!

  35. Palmer10

    April 9, 2009 at 7:37 pm

yeah but i only have one playing bench player and he is on for raines

  36. Robin Bancs

    April 9, 2009 at 7:57 pm

Then trade the other bench player who isn’t playing

    2 trades for me:
    Out: Malceski, S Hill
    In: Gibbs, Houlihan

Should have made those trades before the season started!

  37. Charlie

    April 9, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Palmer10 – in my opinion, a gun would need to miss 5 at this stage of the year to be worth sacrificing a trade. DO NOT TRADE BOCK.

  38. Quinny

    April 10, 2009 at 12:22 pm

Palmer10, trade out Bock definately. trade lots early and then cruise home at the end of the season…

  39. Jacko

    April 10, 2009 at 3:57 pm

i traded out bock for lockyer, quite happy actually, prefer 104 to steven hills possible single figure

  40. Doc

    April 10, 2009 at 6:29 pm

Anyone know when the final teams get released?

  41. Quinny

    April 10, 2009 at 9:00 pm

tomorrows teams are out on afl.com

  42. Mitch Cleary

    April 10, 2009 at 9:21 pm
