Devil strikes early: Liam Anthony out for six weeks

Liam Anthony stress fracture

You knew it was coming. Yes, Dean Laidley has cut open the hearts of fantasy coaches yet again.

I am sure that I don’t need to go through the history yet again of Dean Laidley sabotaging fantasy teams with his implacably evil mind games surrounding the first couple of rounds of the season. This year it’s Liam Anthony being revealed AFTER FANTASY LOCKOUT as having a stress fracture of the foot that will sideline him for six weeks which happened BEFORE FANTASY LOCKOUT at Thursday training. This is another disaster for all of us who bought Anthony, some of us to start him, and will leave countless teams facing zeroes and lost opportunity for cash cow rewards.

I can hear the Junkyard Devil cackling from here. Enjoy it while you can Dean, because you’re going to a dark, evil place when you retire. And no, I don’t mean the Mornington Peninsula.

Do we dare do sideways trades? I’m really down now…

And to think, there’s only been one game played and already my carefully laid plans are in pieces. Bring on the rest of the round 🙂

Only consolation for me, as I guess for many people, is now my emergency will count – good ol’ Little Lance and his 90 ease the pain a bit, but I will still murder you Laidley.

Why Laidley?, Whats the big deal in not sharing that info especially when its only Melbourne your playing! Your not doing yourself any favors especially with your own club members! I’ll bet you took Anthony out of your supercoach before the lockout!!

    March 27, 2009 at 5:15 pm

I heard Dean Laidley stab him in the foot with his pitch fork.

With Hill in doubt and Broughton not named, Anthony not playing for 6 weeks and me not being able to get on and swap Beams for Robinson my season couldn’t have got off to a worse start! And just to make things worse Raines is out for a month

    March 27, 2009 at 5:16 pm

My problem is I took a punt on not getting Rich.

Started Anthony with Robinson as EMG and Beams on the bench.

I’ll probably be okay next week but when Stevens comes back I’d say Robinson is goooooone and I’ll be stuck with a donut until Beams gets a game.

Your doing well if you score 2000 round, wonder what other little surprises this round has up its sleeve, time will tell!!

    March 27, 2009 at 5:17 pm

im same as you Clint. Worst 36 hours of DT ever. waiting 6 months for it to start, put in huge research. and in first 36 hours it will be all over.

So basically if u picked robinson between beams, anthony, and himself, u won the jackpot.
Robinsons def gonna get chances in the blues guernsy after his great debut, beams yet to force himself into the pies best 22 and anthoney out for roughly 6.
For the record i picked anthony 🙁

shocker. this is really bad. mr laidley, i don’t why you figure you’re the only person in the world who deserves some respect. you have lost mine for this outright deception.

Surely the high expectations of DT coaches and these darn injuries are internconnected in some way.

    This is just rediculous!!!

AT least SC reward decent disposal – DT is a flawed concept

QUOTE: “you’re going to a dark, evil place when you retire. And no, I don’t mean the Mornington Peninsula”

m0nty that was gold mate, any credibility Laidley ever had(which was next to nothing)has just been obliterated.

I think injuries are going to be even worse than last year, anyone that has Anthony/Raines is going to have a very hard time winning the $50K, I sense its going to be a bad year for overall rankings.

Cheers and good luck all with your teams!

AT least SC rewards decent disposal – DT is a flawed concept – look at Deledios stats last night for proof

I will keep Anthony in my side, he is a mature aged rookie from WA, like Dalziell, so hoping he comes in after 6 weeks off and dominates, but if Beams gets named and score 100, 100, 100 he is in for anthony!! Or Otten is another option or Myke Cook.

  38. pascoe

    March 27, 2009 at 6:12 pm

wooo! anthony out robinson in! anthony would have maxed 90 probs anyway but robinson sures that up and b/w rich, robinson and anthony i need 1 player to play each week so i am 100% right

  39. Narkee

    March 27, 2009 at 6:13 pm

    Ditto Clint!!!

Might aswell make some cash while you can.

Cash in Robbo after Anthony is named for his 3rd game! Good downgrade target now!

    March 27, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Nth players supercoach leagues have been talk about a fair bit, i wonder how many of them took anthony out before the lockout when ladley first knew about it? I know it sounds like rubbish but would be interesting if out of the 3 or so Nth player leagues none of them had him???

  41. Wal

    March 27, 2009 at 6:26 pm

This actually hurts me in a unique way as i played robinson over anthony this week, and im assuming a lot of people have robinson as emergency for anthony. **** you dean laidley

  42. Dean

    March 27, 2009 at 6:29 pm

Well, I started robinson, and anthony, and have rich as a backup, So I guess im not too hurt, with otten as my other mid bench. although raines is a pain in the ass. Well sounds like people didn’t expect the worst!

  43. Jed

    March 27, 2009 at 6:30 pm

I am really disappointed. To say the least. Laidley should sell used cars.

  44. Macca

    March 27, 2009 at 6:37 pm

Becareful, Laidley might coach Richmond next year and where will that leave us?

  45. jayson

    March 27, 2009 at 6:41 pm

At least Hill & Suban are now named to play.
Onya Harves, not patch on the dog.

  46. ben

    March 27, 2009 at 6:42 pm

dont waste a trade if he’s just on your bench
just wait 6 rounds coz otherwise at about round 18 you’ll be regretting wasting 2 trades

  47. Ant

    March 27, 2009 at 6:45 pm

Never picking a North rookie again, should have learned from last season. Laidley is nothing but the lowest form of scum. Absolute dog act by a low dog.

  48. korza

    March 27, 2009 at 6:50 pm

    @ Monty,Jed,mick_15,Muppet,Etoh,Benno,and anyone else i’ve missed,ia am sitting here LMAO.This is great.

Laidley needs not only a new car, but the cash as well.He is a moral to be ranked no 1 in every fantasy comps around the country.

Yes now we now why you are nicknamed the junkyard DOG…….

    March 27, 2009 at 6:51 pm

I may as well just give up now. Goodbye cruel Dream Team.

    March 27, 2009 at 6:54 pm

i dont get why so many of you bank on rookies who havent played a game at AFL level?? its one thing to bench em and trade when there value go’s up, but its another to rely on them to get decent points especially for round one. very risky fella’s!
