Dunkley feeds it out to the back of a forward 50 stoppage toward Dickson who picks it up cleanly and snaps on his left from 30m for the first of the day! (Q1 3:43)
Stein is too slow running out of defence, welcoming the Naughton chase which is rewarded. Aaron nails it from 40m, directly in front. (Q1 5:30)
Lloyd collects and releases to Schache who makes it three early ones for the Dogs after Williams messes up the defensive pass. (Q1 7:40)
Taranto is able to get a small handball away to Kennedy amidst forward stoppage congestion. Adam quickly snaps a much-needed steadier for the Giants. (Q1 10:18)
Perryman’s attack on the footy is sublime before Hill dribbles a kick toward goal from 40m which almost sneaks in but narrowly misses. (Q1 10:55)
Suckling’s mammoth kick-in sets up a quick end-to-end play that results in Dickson crumbing a pack in the hot spot and hastily snapping his second. (Q1 11:58)
Hill sets it up to the top of the square where Himmelberg stands tall at the front of a crowded pack to clunk the mark and smack it home from 25. (Q1 12:56)
Greene takes a bounce and bullets the footy from the centre into the lap of Keeffe who slides in to take the mark. From 35m, he makes it count. (Q1 14:55)
The Dogs get the footy out of the center through Johannisen. Shaw can’t hold the defensive mark which allows McLean to pounce, setting up Lloyd who snaps the goal from 30. (Q1 17:12)
Macrae shoots out a handball wide to Hunter who snaps with class from 35m on the boundary line, making it six goals straight for the Dogs. (Q1 21:28)
De Boer sends it to a genuine one-on-one contest where Keeffe is good enough to push off of Young and hold the mark. The 25m shot is straight through the middle! (Q1 24:12)
Greene feeds a short-range handball to Daniels who goes for glory with a checkside from the boundary. It’s almost through but not quite. (Q1 26:25)
Daniels finds himself in exactly the same spot, this time passing inboard to Whitfield instead. Lachie shoots from 30m and has no problems! (Q1 27:27)
Trengove marks at true CHF and kicks much wider to Young who launches it from 55 but it’s off hands for a minor score. (Q1 29:56)
Dunkley spoils the Williams mark in the Dogs’ attacking 50, then receives the quick hands from Dickson and snaps the goal from 20. (Q1 32:07)
Suckling’s defensive kick is a poor one, allowing Kennedy to find Whitfield near the boundary. Lachie’s 40m shot drifts across the face. (Q1 33:56)
Simpson’s palm-down and Greene’s snapped finish are equally impressive, chalking up the first goal of the second term. (Q2 0:56)
Greene collects from Whitfield, both under pressure, before snapping over his shoulder to the goalsquare. End result… rushed behind. (Q2 4:00)
Himmelberg drops the mark from the Sproule kick but recovers phenomenally, wheeling around and snapping a top-shelf goal from 40m on the run. (Q2 5:12)
Whitfield feeds it by hand to Kelly who unselfishly pops it over the top to Greene, miles away from anyone in the square. Toby kicks the easiest of goals. (Q2 8:57)
Williams dashes through the corridor before Perryman chips a pass to Daniels at 45m who goes back and hits the post. (Q2 10:30)
Dale soccers it off the ground from 25m and gets some serious power on it but it’s narrowly wide. (Q2 14:01)
Suckling hacks it out from congestion in the centre. Lloyd is able to get underneath the footy, facing the wrong way, yet somehow clunk the mark over Shaw. The 40m shot’s no good. (Q2 18:44)
Himmelberg’s squaring kick into the corridor is a stellar one, allowing Shaw to pop it to one of Tomlinson or Kennedy near the boundary. Tomlinson takes it then nails the 40m shot. (Q2 25:02)
The Dogs reply quickly through Richards who runs into the open goal after some excellent front and centre work. (Q2 25:07)
Suckling’s bulleting kick falls fortunately to Dale inside 50 who pops it over to Lipinski, slamming the 35m rehealpsd shot home. (Q2 27:05)
Lipinski shoots after the HT siren from 50m but it drops short and doesn’t trouble the scorers. (Q2 31:02)
Taranto releases Whitfield on his outside but he can’t covert the running left-foot 35m shot, adding merely a minor score to the GWS total. (Q3 4:30)
Outside of the stoppage, Greene links up with Taranto by hand but Tim’s quick shot from 45 is never online. (Q3 5:27)
While being tackles Daniels feeds it backward to Taranto who sends a Hail Mary from the boundary line which sneaks in for a minor score. (Q3 6:43)
This time Daniels gives it over to Greene, dashing just inside of the boundary line. At full pace and with a tough angle, he misses. (Q3 7:45)
Perryman’s centering kick spells trouble. The Dogs bring it to ground and Smith makes them pay, finishing with class from 45m. (Q3 8:07)
Dunkley releases to Suckling who only needs a couple of steps. From just outside the 50 he misses narrowly. (Q3 8:44)
Macrae’s hands are fast which allows Smith to pop it into the 50 where Hunter finds himself in plenty of space. Lachie lines up from 45 and misses to the right. (Q3 11:53)
Macrae is involved in the contest yet again before Duryea receives from Hunter on the flank and snipes it home from 55, taking the Dogs out to a narrow 7-point lead. (Q3 17:00)
Macrae throws it on the boot from the stoppage and it lands in the goal square where Schache outmuscles Corr to kick the easy goal. (Q3 20:22)
After collecting from Lipinski, Dunkley almost gets run down but is good enough to get it on the boot from 55 and make it six in a row for the Dogs! (Q3 24:14)
A soft push is paid against Davis on Naughton in the contest, gifting the Dog a look from 30. He makes no mistake, taking the margin out to a 26-point lead. (Q3 26:58)
Lloyd collects in the pocket from the stoppage and snaps without much room to move, but it can only register a minor score. (Q3 28:29)
Suckling unloads from inside the centre square to make it eight goals in a row. However, following a score review, it’s declared touched off the boot. (Q3 32:58)
The footy spills to Lloyd out the back of a marking contest but his hasty snap from 20 is wide. (Q3 34:16)
Macrae feeds it back to Johannisen who pops a short pass to Bontempelli in space. From 45m, Bont sprays it OOTF. (Q4 4:09)
Hill takes it forward of the wing and holds it patiently until he can spot Greene loose in the 50. Toby starts it to the right and that’s where it stays (Q4 5:49)
Davis boots it OOTF with a rushes clearance. Hunter then sends it straight back where Naughton flies to clunk a strong contested mark. From 30m, he misses. (Q4 8:24)
Johannisen dashes through the middle before Smith sends a low pass to Dale who marks close to goal. From 20m, Dale nails it and makes the W almost a certainty. (Q4 14:24)
An angry Heath Shaw gives away a 50m penalty for late contact after the mark, bringing Lloyd within range. The drop punt from 40 is as clean as you’ll see. (Q4 15:08)
Heavy pressure in the middle forces the Giants to cough up the footy to Lloyd who hits Schache on the lead. The 45m attempt sneaks home, making it 10 goals in a row for the Dogs. (Q4 16:54)
A chain of retreating handballs ends with Trengove who rushes a shot from 40 that misses to the left. (Q4 21:04)
Two A-grade handballs from Hunter and Bontempelli set up Lipinski who nails the right-foot snap from 35. (Q4 22:25)
Naughton tumbles in to mark the Johannisen entry in front of Haynes but his slight is marginally wide. (Q4 25:00)
The Giants continue to make errors, this time resulting in a crucial turnover. Lloyd pops a pass to Dale at the 40 who slides it straight through the middle. (Q4 26:26)
It’s been a tale of two halves today – the first tightly contested, and the second utterly dominated by the Dogs. The siren sounds and the Dogs edge into the top 8! (Full Time)
