It’s Duncan, Kelly and then Ablett who sets it up from the flank to the hot spot where Rohan marks over Wood. Gary has no trouble kicking the relatively easy goal! (Q1 1:50)
Daniel’s OOTF kick allows the Cats to bring it back through the corridor before heading inside 50. Rohan flies high to mark the Guthrie entry, kicking truly from 30. (Q1 4:05)
After fumbling a Dunkley handball, Bontempelli makes amends by sending it straight into the lap of the leading McLean. From 35 on no significant angle, Toby kicks the goal! (Q1 6:22)
Clark sends a bullet forward from the wing which Hawkins has no trouble marking after outmuscling Roberts. From 45, directly in front, Tom splits the middle. (Q1 7:35)
After Hunter skies an inside-50, Constable is penalised for holding Trengove in the contest. He lines up from 40 on a slight angle and splits the middle. (Q1 12:35)
Dunkley drops back into space to bravely clunk the footy in front of a steamrolling Gowers. Josh’s 40m set shot hits the post. (Q1 14:20)
Guthrie elects not to shoot for goal and instead chips inboard to Duncan on a better angle. From bang on 50, Mitch sends it straight over the goal umpire’s head. (Q1 17:05)
Without a player in the goalsquare, the Dogs are penalised at the centre bounce. This kickstarts an attack that eventually results in a hasty Dangerfield outside-of-boot snap goal. (Q1 19:20)
Caleb Daniel kicks to Trengove who offloads to a running Johannisen. The #39 decides to take on Abbott, running his measure and kicking a great goal from the half forward flank. (Q1 20:21)
Daniel’s overly-ambitious kick is turned over in the centre of the ground. Duncan, Dangerfield and Ablett are involved, with the latter finding Dahlhaus inside 50. Luke misses. (Q1 26:16)
Dangerfield’s set shot from 51 looks good but is touched on the line. (Q1 27:03)
O’Connor delivers to Ablett who will line up for goal. It falls short and a 4-part Darcy Fort juggle is eventually paid the mark. He plays on from the pocket and snaps the goal! (Q1 29:31)
Dunkley feeds the footy out to Easton Wood on the flank, sending it to the dangerous hot spot. With six seconds left in the quarter, Gowers clunks the mark and splits the middle. (Qtr Time)
Bontempelli slips over allowing Dahlhaus to burn him on the turnover. Rohan marks on the lead, kicks from 44m on a slight angle, and misses right. (Q2 0:46)
Hunter’s spearing dart from the wing hits Naughton lace-out on the lead. Aaron lines up from 50 but hangs it out to the left. (Q2 3:21)
A downfield free kick is paid against the Cats, winding up in the gloves of Gowers within scoring range. From 35 on a moderate angle, he hits the post. (Q2 6:19)
Selwood streams forward out of a contest, kicking to the Hawkins/Roberts one-on-one in the hot spot. Tom is too strong, slotting the goal from directly in front. (Q2 9:06)
Hayes kicks short to Hunter who’s chalking up the touches early. From 46 on a tough angle for a left-footer, his shot is flawless. (Q2 11:06)
Dangerfield feeds it out of an attacking stoppage to Parfitt who snaps the goal on his right boot from 25. (Q2 13:51)
Parfitt disposes to a striding Ablett. He ignores the outside runner in Miers, sets sail for goal from 45, and misses. (Q2 15:34)
Macrae sends it forward from the flank. Blicavs can’t kill the footy, allowing Naughton to pounce on the loose ball and scrounge the crumbing goal. (Q2 18:37)
Lloyd shows composure to find McLean in space inside 50. Toby lines up from just inside the arc but narrowly misses to the left. (Q2 20:54)
Liberatore hands to Bontempelli on the wing who spots Lloyd in a paddock of space. He ignores Hayes over the top, lines up for goal and slots it from 30. (Q2 26:39)
Selwood works it out of the centre, bombing long to Hawkins who exposes the weaker Roberts yet again. From the pocket, he rolls around and kicks the goal. (Q2 27:08)
The Cats steamroll forward thanks to brilliant bodywork from Kelly. Miers links up with Duncan who slots it on the run from 35. (Q2 29:17)
Dangerfield gets the quick centre clearance and kicks inside 50. Miers roves a pack and handballs out to Rohan who kicks his third of the day. (Q2 30:47)
Suckling is infringed by Stewert as he attempts to mark the Hunter pass. From outside the boundary, Matt’s checkside snap is to the near side. (Half Time)
Duncan dives to keep the ball in play, slapping it to the goalsquare. Roberts falls over the top of Hawkins, suplex-style, giving away a free kick. Hawkins snaps the goal. (Q3 5:51)
Hunter releases Johannisen whose inside-50 kick floats into the lap of Liberatore. Libba lines up from 40m on a slight angle and splits the middle. (Q3 6:51)
Miers burns his opponent on the flank, takes a bounce and centers unselfishly to the dangerous area where Fort marks and goals. (Q3 9:36)
A chain of attacking handballs for the Dogs ends with Smith near goal. His hasty snap bends a little too much, through for a minor score. (Q3 12:31)
Naughton throws it on the boot from congestion inside his forward 50. A reviewed Umpire’s Call results in a touched ball and therefore a behind. (Q3 14:06)
After Miers tries to burst through some Dogs to no avail, Guthrie gives to Constable gives to Ablett who doesn’t waste his chance. Snap and goal from 35 for the little master. (Q3 15:41)
Fort roves his own contest, gets his hands clear and allows Ablett a shot at goal. Gary’s hasty attempt bounces into the post. (Q3 16:51)
Dashing down the wing, Johannisen sends an entry inside 50 which hangs in the air for a long time before eventually falling into Wallis’ arms. He puts it through from 30. (Q3 19:15)
Smith handballs into the path of Bontempelli. In the dewy conditions, he cleanly collects, sidesteps around Stewart, trudges toward goal and slots it from outside 50! (Q3 20:19)
Naughton feeds it out while in traffic to Bontempelli, but some necessary Miers pressure causes his hurried shot to fade to the left. (Q3 22:07)
Duncan’s handball ricochets off his tackler to Kelly who sets up Guthrie, kicking an impressive, checkside goal on the run from 40. (Q3 26:22)
Wallis throws it on the boot and it lands in the lap of Richards, playing in front of Tuohy. Ed splits the middle from 40, directly in front. (Q3 27:32)
A great handball under pressure from Macrae releases Liberatore. He hands to Bontempelli who launches it goalward from 60. Bounce, skid, bounce, goal! (Q3 30:36)
Rohan shows off his pace and smarts to mark what should have been Lewis Young’s footy. His shot from 45, however, is wide. (Q3 32:14)
Naughton’s inside-50 narrowly evades Blicavs’ outstretched fingertips, falling into the lap of Wallis. From 40m on a slight angle, he guides it through the middle. (Q4 3:18)
The Dogs fail to clear it from defence effectively, allowing Rohan to find Abbott on the end of his pass from the flank. The big fella goals from 45. (Q4 6:44)
Darcy Fort is able to get out the back and on the end of a wing play involving Duncan and Taylor. On a slight angle from about 40, he kicks his third! (Q4 9:48)
Constable tried to get his arms free in the Richards tackle but the Dog had them pinned. Ed is rewarded, lines up from 43 and slices it to the right. (Q4 10:30)
Taylor is pinged for deliberate OOB. McLean wheels around on his right from the pocket but narrowly misses to the near side. (Q4 12:16)
Duncan intercepts on his own forward flank and plays on quickly to spot up Miers at 50. Duncan continues running, receives the handball and launches it through the big sticks. (Q4 20:45)
Miers adds his name to the scoresheet after marking the well-weighted Hawkins kick and slotting it from 35m. (Q4 22:31)
Via Constable and Parfitt, Ablett kicks the easiest of goals from point-blank range. (Q4 27:15)
Kelly steps through traffic in the hot spot, linking up with Constable for Charlie to kick another easy goal for the Cats. (Q4 28:18)
After the siren, Constable’s deep-in-the-pocket snap is to the near side. Cats, sing your song! (Q4 30:15)
