North try for a fast start to the game to bounce back from last week’s smashing going end to end out of defense, but Lindsay Thomas’ snap from 50 gets knocked through. (Q1 1:47)
Lindsay makes up for the miss earlier with an excellent piece of play, jumping and allowing a long ball in just to fall in Ben Brown’s lap 15 out for him to easily turn and goal. (Q1 3:47)
Waite gives up a free for a push in the back to Clarke in the forward half and he goes long to the spot 20 out from goal where Stef Martin marks easily without opposition. He goals (Q1 6:36)
Boundary throw in deep in Kangaroo’s 50 gets tapped down into Cunnington’s hands for a quick snap but it’s offline for a behind. (Q1 7:15)
Brisbane move it quick out of defense, somehow ending up loose all along one side of the ground for easy marks and kicks until Mayes misses a set shot from 35 with a 45 angle. (Q1 9:20)
Great run and carry from Brisbane in the middle of the ground lets Berwick dance past Roos players and hand to Adcock for a brilliant running goal from centre half forward. (Q1 11:17)
Very very good spread from a boundary contest by Rich as he receives a looping handpass inboard and runs before kicking a weighted kick to Green 30 out for an easy set shot goal. (Q1 13:38)
Kayne Turner sneaks wide of a contest at CHF to get an easy possession out on the flank and kick deep for Waite 20 out who marks in typical Waite fashion for another easy goal. (Q1 16:19)
Brisbane take it quickly out of the middle via Robinson who bombs into the dangerzone 15 out from goal where Zorko crumbs but misses his snap. (Q1 17:21)
Great little bit of courage from Higgins to go back with the flight after a chipping kick out of a contest makes him go for the mark 15 out in the pocket. He hits the post. (Q1 22:21)
Boomer Harvey grabs the ball on the boundary 50 out and uses his speed to run around a defender and go to Petrie deep who misses a mark but Brown soccers it through for a goal. (Q1 25:00)
Great intercept mark from Waite on the half back flank leads to a switch inboard ending with Brown at CHF kicking to Nahas who dances around Berwick for a goal 35 out. (Q1 29:17)
Brilliant display from Thomas to end the quarter, after getting a free kick for a high tackle in the pocket, he runs to make the angle even harder and still drop punts it through. (Qtr Time)
Waite just too big and good with his jumping style for the young Clark and it’s showing as he easily blocks him out for a mark 40 out on the 45 angle for another goal. (Q2 2:12)
Wells marks on the flank and swings around to Ziebell in the centre who drills it to Higgins in front 40 out. He misses but gets another shot due to a bad kick in for a goal. (Q2 4:58)
Brilliant courage from the second gamer McGrath to run back with the flight and get crunched by Petrie, but it’s all for nothing as Waite simply roves the pack and snaps the goal (Q2 7:28)
Higgins and Dal Santo on the wing use their run and carry instead of blazing away on the wing before going long to Waite in front of goal who gets a free and his fourth goal. (Q2 12:03)
Brisbane go right out of the centre with a kick inside 50 which leads to Wright giving a free to Christensen 30 out in front for an easy goal. (Q2 14:19)
Brisbane go hard again out of the centre for two quick inside 50s but only end up with 2 behinds. Pressure has lifted immensely from the Lions. (Q2 15:34)
Tippet gets the ball on the wing and goes to Waite exactly on the the boundary at half forward. Waite swings to Ziebell who got away from Robinson to mark and goal in the pocket. (Q2 18:30)
Redden and Ziebell have a quarrel at CHF for the Roos which allows Petrie to mark unopposed 40 out right in front. Petrie’s shot fades left for a behind. (Q2 20:36)
Firrito has an inspiring run out of defense to kick to Thomas on the Wing alone who goes over to Ben Brown also alone at half forward who goes over to Petrie 10 out for a goal. (Q2 22:29)
Lewis Taylor fumbles a ball at CHB which falls right into Kayne Turner’s hands for a kick to Ben Brown who blocks for it to fall for Higgins to run in and goal from the square. (Q2 26:30)
Cunnington gets a free for holding the man from Dayne Beams at half forward and wastes no time going to Thomas on the lead 30 out right in front. Thomas kicks it straight through. (Q2 31:55)
North start the quarter off very quickly, going straight inside 50 for some quick hands and snaps but ultimately Goldy gets his snap through the big sticks in the goalsquare. (Q3 1:34)
The Waite v Clarke matchup continues to prove to be in North’s favour as Waite easily beats him in the air 45 out from goal right in front. The set shot travels far but hits post. (Q3 4:59)
Lions try for some quick hands working through the forward flank and inside 50, working it well but moving too wide for Zorko’s boundary line shot which misses despite the effort. (Q3 8:06)
Lions defense seems to be in shambles as Dal Santo gets an uncontested possession at CHF to kick to Ben Brown also alone 30 out. Ben gallops in to kick but misses the shot. (Q3 10:21)
Thompson rushes a behind and quickly goes to Gibson who goes but gets tackled and shanks a kick which gets turned over to Robinson 50 out in front. Robbo bombs for goal but misses. (Q3 15:10)
Lindsay Thomas gets a free kick from a high tackle via Dayne beams’ arm after a boundary throw in 30 out from goal. He runs in for the shot with the sharp angle and misses. (Q3 17:33)
Roos hold it in their forward half and go straight back in to Cunnington for the classic seven point play but his good mark 30 out isn’t reflected by his kick that misses badly. (Q3 19:21)
Higgins gets the ball inside 50 and draws his man to give the hands off to the in space Ziebell on the boundary who centres to held Petrie for a free kick and goal 20 out in front. (Q3 21:15)
Lewis Taylor gets one of the oddest goals you will ever see, after a set shot on Thompson, he tries to dance around the mark but gets smothered only to kick the goal anyway from 40 (Q3 26:06)
Lindsay Thomas runs out ahead of every Lions defender to grab a mark inside 50. He doesn’t do the Lewis Taylor dance around, but misses the easy shot from 25 with little angle. (3 Qtr Time)
Roos start the last quarter going forward straight away to a contest just inside 50 resulting in a scrimmage and Ziebell getting himself a high tackle. His shot from 45 misses. (Q4 2:16)
Lindsay Thomas sweeps around on the flank to drive the ball deep to Brown who marks outstretched ahead of Maguire 25 out on a slight angle. He kicks the first of the quarter. (Q4 4:33)
The Kangaroos are putting on a clinic today as they go straight out of the middle again and straight down Waite’s throat 50 out on the 45 for a mark and his 5th goal. (Q4 5:44)
The game is truly one sided today as the Roos move the ball with too much ease through the middle before Thomas chips to Higgins 40 out on the 45. He goes back but misses the shot. (Q4 7:10)
Lions get themselves a little consolation prize after managing to keep it inside their 50 long enough for McStay to sneakily soccer in a goal from the goalsquare. (Q4 12:10)
Cunnington gets the ball on the flank and delivers to Higgins 40 out in the same place he’s had 4 other set shots. He proves used to the situation and slots this one through. (Q4 14:48)
Roos hand a gift to the Lions as a long kick into the 50 which should have easily been punched over by Thomas glances his hand and falls into Adcock’s lap on the line for the goal. (Q4 16:30)
The Kangaroos treat the Lions players as cones in a training drill, easily handing it past them and allowing Gibson to run into goal but he misses from 25. (Q4 20:46)
Lions go coast to coast utilising a stunning run from Green but it ultimately proves useless as his snap misses. (Q4 21:41)
Kangaroos show the Lions how to go coast to coast, easily kicking past the players and gifting the ball to Waite in the pocket for a mark and his 6th goal. (Q4 22:48)
Waite kicks his seventh goal to equal his best ever haul as the game goes into it’s final two minutes after a smart tap by Lindsay Thomas and a centering ball into his arms. (Q4 25:16)
