More and better: Round 1 projections v3 (4/4)

R1 projections v3 (4/4)

Fremantle’s Anthony Morabito is among many draftees looking to replace injured veterans in round 1.

Fremantle Dockers Intra-Club Match

There, that’s the last R1 projections post for 2010. I will blog each and every team list as it comes in on Wednesday and Thursday.

Western Bulldogs
FB: Tom Williams, Brian Lake, Jarrod Harbrow
HB: Lindsay Gilbee, Dale Morris, Ryan Hargrave
C: Daniel Cross, Ryan Griffen, Daniel Giansiracusa
HF: Robert Murphy, Mitch Hahn, Brad Johnson
FF: Shaun Higgins, Barry Hall, Jason Akermanis
Fol: Ben Hudson, Matthew Boyd, Adam Cooney
Int: Will Minson, Josh Hill, Liam Picken, Brodie Moles
In: Hill, Moles
Out: Callan Ward, Nathan Eagleton
Iffy: Williams, Hill, Picken, Moles
Waiting: Jarrad Grant, Andrejs Everitt, Jarrad Boumann, Jordan Roughead
Injured: Christian Howard, Ward, Eagleton

EDIT: Late mail from the Herald-Sun on Tuesday dictates this 22 in full.

Collingwood
FB: Harry O’Brien, Simon Prestigiacomo, Alan Toovey
HB: Heath Shaw, Nathan J. Brown, Nick Maxwell
C: Alan Didak, Luke Ball, Leon Davis
HF: Dale Thomas, Travis Cloke, Tarkyn Lockyer
FF: Leigh Brown, John Anthony, Paul Medhurst
Fol: Darren Jolly, Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury
Int: Josh Fraser, Sharrod Wellingham, Steele Sidebottom, Shane O’Bree
In: O’Bree
Out: Dayne Beams
Iffy: O’Bree, Wellingham, Toovey, Sidebottom
Waiting: Beams, Tyson Goldsack, Ben Johnson, Ben Reid
Injured: Brad Dick, Cameron Wood, Josh Thomas

Conveniently, just as I was looking for someone to remove to put O’Bree in, Beams gets a rebuke from the club for a training indiscretion. Otherwise this list is healthy and settled.

Fremantle
FB: Alex Silvagni, Chris Tarrant, Roger Hayden
HB: Adam McPhee, Luke McPharlin, Stephen Hill
C: Michael Barlow, Paul Hasleby, Paul Duffield
HF: David Mundy, Matthew Pavlich, Chris Mayne
FF: Des Headland, Michael Johnson, Hayden Ballantyne
Fol: Aaron Sandilands, Ryan Crowley, Byron Schammer
Int: Kepler Bradley, Anthony Morabito, Greg Broughton, Garrick Ibbotson
In: Ibbotson
Out: Matthew de Boer
Iffy: Schammer, Silvagni, Ibbotson, Morabito
Waiting: Nick Suban, Steven Dodd, Michael Walters, Zac Clarke
Injured: Tim Ruffles, Antoni Grover, Rhys Palmer, Scott Thornton, de Boer
Retired: Dean Solomon

Just to clarify, there has been a typo on de Boer’s injury that has percolated through a lot of Docker stories, suggesting that the lad has a six-week shin injury. This was actually a typo which meant de Boer’s injury was confused with that of Grover, and the correct timeframe was 1-2 weeks, making him set for a round 2 return. I’m still a bit wary of Suban as the 23rd man, especially for those of you investing in Morabito.

Adelaide
FB: Graham Johncock, Ben Rutten, Scott Stevens
HB: Simon Goodwin, Nathan Bock, Andrew McLeod
C: David Mackay, Scott Thompson, Patrick Dangerfield
HF: Tyson Edwards, Taylor Walker, Myke Cook
FF: Trent Hentschel, Kurt Tippett, Richard Douglas
Fol: Ivan Maric, Bernie Vince, Nathan Van Berlo
Int: Jonathan Griffin, Shaun McKernan, Brent Reilly, Michael Doughty
In:
Out:
Iffy: Davis, Moran, Doughty, Walker
Waiting: Jack Gunston, Phil Davis, Rory Sloane, James Sellar
Injured: Andy Otten, Brodie Martin, Brad Symes, Chris Knights, Brad Moran, Brett Burton, Jason Porplyzia

The story out of the Adelaide Advertiser this week was that apart from the LTIs, all but Knights and Burton were passed bit by Crow physios – although leaving Symes out of that article (and thus the Crows’ best 22) was cheeky. The truth is that many are still short of a gallop or two, and players like Porplyzia and Maric will most likely start through the SANFL. Van Berlo, Vince and McLeod are more positive chances for round 1 despite similarly interrupted preseasons, but I had pencilled them in already so what was Rucci telling us? Nothing new. Despite Petrenko getting in the press in the preseason, I still like McKernan to provide a bit more support both up forward and in the ruck.

Please don’t post your team and ask me to rate it. I’m not doing that again this preseason.

I’ve noticed that silvagni is predicted to be a starter… has he been elevated to the senior list as at this stage?

There is no way Suban isn’t best 22. Just saying I follow freo a little as one of my side teams i feel a soft spot for and Suban is much loved and touted as a leader. he will play round 1

    Almost Monty!

    In: Petrenko
    Out: SMACK

No way in hell are we taking 8 talls. If Smack plays it will be at the expense of Maric or Griff. I also have Sloane in for VB, just to be cautious, but we’ll see how he comes up.

You’re dreaming if you think the Crows are going to play 3 ruckmen… why not throw Sellar and Moran in there too – go with 5 ruckmen!?

Didn’t notice Ryan Murphy in Freo’s or Dan Talia in Adelaide’s projections. I believe both are pushing for games this year. Thoughts on these guys?

Ryan Murphy is the biggest spud still on an AFL senior list, and he’s only still on a senior list because Freo have kept forgetting to draft anyone who can even pretend to be a backup tall forward.

Talia could play this year, but later, and only if injuries get to Adelaide’s senior talls. It’s not likely, but it could happen.

Monty, where’s the Herald-Sun’s late mail on the WB lineup? What’s wrong with Ward and Eagleton?

Monty, could you or any Collingwood supporter with a brain explain to me why you don’t have Brent Macaffer in the fwd line? He played all 4 preseason games and avged 66pts a game. Yet Leigh Brown sits in the forward line?

Ballantyne is listed as out for 1-2 weeks on the Herald Sun website…will make a lot of people forced to make a tough decision I reckon…myself included!
