Matt Rowell burst onto the scene with four of the most scintillating games ever seen from a first-year player, accumulating Brownlow votes and the adoration of the fantasy world... then he did his shoulder, and since then has devolved into just another inside mid. He is quite a good one, mind you, but that didn't seem to be his fate given the way he began his AFL senior career. Today he plays another Q-Clash, a fixture in which Gold Coast has historically been treated like an annoying little brother. Rowell is one of the big bodies who need to bully the bullies to get another home win.
