Shane McAdam has come into the Melbourne side at a point where their forward line is not just in transition, it flat out does not work. Their attack in their flag year not that long ago centred around Tom McDonald, who dropped away sharply and is now in defence. Harrison Petty was thought to be the next answer, but injury has ruined his 2024. Simon Goodwin has tried to make the best of a poor hand dealt to him, and perhaps McAdam is at least a short-term solution to the question of how the Demons build a winning score. He doesn't provide much outside goals, however.
