Blog log from R8 of 2016: Essendon vs North Melbourne

Petrie receives through the middle, sells a beautiful piece of candy, sending Grima skyward. Drew then spun and slotted it through from 30, for the first of the day! (Q1 3:28)
Brown sends it long to the hot spot, and Daniher finds it at ground level ahead of Thompson. Joe throws it on the boot, missing to the left from 20 under pressure. (Q1 8:48)
Baguley turns it over coming out of defence, incredibly picking out Mullett. Aaron receives and sends the shot goalward, missing to the left from 45. (Q1 15:04)
TIpungwuti sped out of defence, but unfortunately lost his feet in a dazzling effort, allowing GIbson to apply the tackle. The Roos then find Wood inside 50, and Mason goals! (Q1 18:34)
Harvey whacks it out the back of his contest with 2 Bombers, allowing Waite to receive the uncontested ground ball. Jarrad shoots, but misses from 25 with the snap. (Q1 20:19)
Kelly throws Petrie out of the marking contest and the simple decision is paid the key forwards way. Drew goes back and slots his second from 25 out, directly in front! (Q1 22:31)
Redman finds it at ground level after the slow Bombers build up. Charging at the pill, Mason finds it at ground level and attempted his effort from 25, missing to the right. (Q1 25:19)
Ziebell to Jacobs who hits a low drilling effort, apparently under the hands of Goddard, and through the big sticks from 45! Brilliant shot by the Roos hard man! (Q1 27:30)
Cunnington darts in an effort, moving from the corridor through to an unmarked Thomas. Lindsay takes the regulation mark, and finishes truly from 40 on the slight! (Q2 1:46)
Brown plays the role of rover, and via the long bomb in, Ben finds it out the back of the contest. He spins and manages to dribble it through from 30 in one swift movement! (Q2 3:46)
Majak Daw, back in the line up this week, produces a moment to remember. He forced Hartley off the ball, grabbed it off the deck and swung it in from deep in the pocket! (Q2 6:01)
Kelly gives another free kick away in the marking contest, this time in a one on one opposed to Brown. Ben takes the free and hits the post from 25 on the slight angle. (Q2 6:32)
McKenna to Dea who darts in the pass to the leading Fantasia, who takes the mark out ahead of Tarrant. From 45 on the slight, Orazio misses to the left hand side. (Q2 11:16)
Goddard gets it out of the forward stoppage, and throws it on the boot from the edge of the arc. It bounces to the far side and through for a minor score. (Q2 15:07)
Parish turns it over as the young Don attempts to move it through the corridor. Waite intercepts, allowing Wood to find Ziebell unopposed. From 45 on the flank, Jack misses. (Q2 20:11)

Dal Santo spots a leading Daw, and Majak takes the grab out ahead of Grima and Dea. From the set shot, 45 out, Majak whacks through his second of the day! (Q2 24:14)
Goldstein drops it on the head of Daw, and Majak just hops up, taking the strong grab opposed to a number of smaller backs. From 40 on the flank, Majak misses post siren. (Q2 26:41)
Fantasia manages a terrific opportunistic major! The long bomb in falls to the rover, who immediately spun in the tackle and bounced it home from 25 on the angle. (Q3 2:50)
Goddard receives from Bird out of the stoppage scenario. Brendon attempts the snap hook from the edge of 50, but bounces it onto the post. (Q3 4:54)
The Roos then speed it coast to coast, finishing with Harvey finding Waite over the top. From 40 on the flank, Jarrad hammers home his first of the contest! (Q3 6:35)
Tipungwuti starts the play from half back, producing a terrific kick to find Langford. Kyle then found Redman out the back, Mason making a powerful run. Mason goals! (Q3 9:05)
Wood takes a towering mark in the contest, but unfortunately hits the ground hard and is clearly suffering from a bout of concussion. The medics are out… (Q3 14:01)
Waite receives the free kick after Wood is driven from the ground. From 30 out, directly in front, Jarrad slots the major! (Q3 17:18)
Harvey darts in the short pass to Nahas, who takes the simple mark leading back into space. From 40 out on the slight angle, he misses to the left hand side. (Q3 18:51)
McKenzie bangs it in with an up and under, allowing Cunnington to run and grab ahead of a desperate Kelly in the 5 strong pack. From 50 on the flank, Ben hits the post. (Q3 20:21)
Waite takes another intercept grab as the Dons again turn it over from the kick in. Jarrad lines up the set shot, but misses from 35 on the slight angle once more. (Q3 21:29)
Bombers kick a terrific coast to coast goal. Tipungwuti, moving through the corridor finds Fantasia inside 50. Orazio flicks it off to a speeding Cooney, who settles and goals! (Q3 24:52)
Gibson turns it over with a short defensive 50 kick, straight into the hands of Redman. Mason moves it off quickly to Daniher, who goals from 20! (Q3 27:06)
Fantasia makes it three in a row for the Dons! Off Leuenberger’s attempted mark, Orazio grabs the scraps at pace and snaps truly ahead of terrific chase pressure from McDonald! (Q3 30:37)
Petre finds Harvey on the lead ahead of Hartley with the dab pass, Brent marking 40 out from goal on the flank. From the post-siren kick, Brent hooks it poorly and misses the lot! (Q3 34:52)
Turnover coming out of defence by the Roos, allowing Cooney to pounce on the errant handball. Adam launches for goal from the paint of 50, but misses to the right.. (Q4 0:56)
Goldstein flicks it onto the powering Gibson. Sam hammers it to the big sticks, but pulls it to the near side from 45 on the flank. (Q4 7:27)
Dal Santo got it out of the congestion and whacked it on the boot from well outside the arc of 50. Distance wasn’t a problem for the former Saint, but accuracy was. (Q4 8:03)
Polkinghorne receives a free kick for holding against his counterpart in Ziebell. From 40 on the flank, James misses to the far side. (Q4 12:41)
Daniher takes the strong intercept mark from the Roos rebound 50 and then centres to Crowley inside 50. Directly in front, Ryan misses to the left hand side. (Q4 13:41)
Langford grabs the bouncing pill out the back from Daniher, leading McDonald a merry dance. Kyle then settles and snaps truly from 25, running away from goal! (Q4 16:11)
Langford has a chance fir 2 in a minute, after Baguley found Kyle on the lead, ahead of McDonald once more. From 50 on the flank, Kyle sends it through! (Q4 17:54)
Incredibly that is now five in a row for the previously, under siege Bombers! (Q4 17:54)
Zaharakis then finds Redman running out the back, then time marking ahead of McKenzie. From 30 on the slight, he misses poorly to the far side. (Q4 18:57)
Tipungwuti produces another dazzling effort as he moves it outside defensive 50 with run and carry. Eventually it falls the way of Polkinghorne, who misses from outside 50. (Q4 21:26)
Langford to Merrett, who settles and goes for home via the open play effort. From 45 on the flank, he misses to the near side. (Q4 24:12)
Nahas found Daw unopposed inside forward 50. Majak trundled through unopposed, yet incredibly missed from point blank range. Perhaps the worst of the season thus far. (Q4 25:44)
The Bombers then sped it coast to coast, with Daniher finishing beautifully from 45 out on the flank. He finished it with just 6 seconds left to play. Roos are home. (Q4 26:42)
