Goodes gets a free on Goldstein after the first centre bounce, Macmillan gives away a soft 50m penalty for not giving the ball back, Goodes goals from 40m. (Q1 0:41)
Goldstein marks a Cunnington ball 40m out on the flank. Goldie swings through the first North Melbourne goal of the evening. (Q1 9:31)
Hannebery gathers a Heeney ball in the pocket but as he gives to Towers he gets caught slightly high by McDonald. Hanners goals from 20m. (Q1 11:32)
Rohan runs his full measure to 50m on the flank and lets fly, but the ball bounces wide for a point. (Q1 13:00)
Harvey passes to Petrie 40m out on a slight angle on the end of a flowing move from defence around the outer wing. Petrie misses. (Q1 14:18)
McDonald receives in traffic for a snap off a step on his left boot from 40m on a slight angle… it’s good! (Q1 21:13)
Waite marks a short Atley ball in front of Grundy 45m out on the flank, but his set shot is rushed into the post. (Q1 22:25)
Three Swans are at the fall of the ball from a high Ziebell kick 30m out on the flank, but Petrie is on his belly and the ump pays a free against Richards. Petrie misses. (Q1 25:17)
Tippett is paid a slightly soft ruck free against Goldstein for high contact 35m out on a slight angle, but the footy gods conspire and Tippett doesn’t even make the distance. (Q1 27:43)
Goodes marks at half forward and goes long to the pocket, two Roos spoils Heeney but Firrito catches him high 15m out. Heeney bananas his first goal! (Q2 3:23)
Gibson, one of a number of taggers doing an excellent job tonight, snaps truly on the run from 40m on the flank. (Q2 6:08)
After a long period of pressure in midfield, Petrie marks at mid range on the flank in front of Rampe and sails through an important North goal. (Q2 17:49)
Gibson does a one-two with Petrie and checksides from near the hotspot just before the cavalry arrives… just wide. (Q2 19:39)
Waite stands up in a tackle to get his arms free after a stoppage at 40m on the flank, he gives outside to Harvey whose pressured snap sails through, the little champ! (Q2 20:39)
Bad signs for the Swans. Too many times this year they have just not looked like scoring for long stretches. (Q2 21:57)
Goodes forces Harvey to kick OOTF on the HBF, Lloyd finds Goodes on the counter in the pocket 30m out. The crowd gives Goodes a warm ovation, but he misses. (Q2 28:47)
Hannebery bursts from a pack on the HFF at high pace and gives to Goodes who snaps from 30m, but it’s OOTF under heavy pressure. (Q2 30:40)
North has played all over Sydney all over the ground, but they only have a lead of 15 points to show for it. Mind you, that might be enough given Sydney’s lack of forwards. (Half Time)
Tippett, who has started Q3 forward after rucking most of the first half, marks on the boundary 45m out and sails through a big goal to give the Swans a lift. (Q3 1:30)
Rohan bounces thrice in a weaving run through traffic in the centre, fumbles but McGlynn mops up and gives to Kennedy who runs in space up the guts and goals from CHF! (Q3 4:54)
Brown gathers a loose ball in the pocket under pressure and tries a tricky checkside to the top of the square, it’s perfect for Waite to mark on his chest and goal. (Q3 5:33)
Turner shows vision to give over the top of a big pack to Dal Santo running past, but he hurries a right foot snap that goes OOTF from 30m. (Q3 7:19)
Swans are under immense tackling pressure in the centre, Heeney flies 40m in front for a rushed Jetta kick, Kennedy is front and centre but misses off the right boot. (Q3 8:51)
Sydney is challenging after half time as you knew they would. So far, North is holding the line. (Q3 10:30)
Rose snaps just wide off a step from 30m on the flank. (Q3 12:31)
Swallow gives to Higgins who snaps on the turn from 40m in front on the end of a fast break… hits the behind post OOTF. (Q3 13:18)
Garner encroaches on the wing after a Smith mark to give away 50m, Smith is brought to 35m on a slight angle but misses. (Q3 16:02)
Kennedy gives outside to Rampe for a left foot snap from 30m on the flank, he also misses. (Q3 16:56)
Harvey receives from Goldstein and runs free ahead of chasers for a grubber from 35m on the flank… just wide. (Q3 18:01)
Higgins marks in front of Lloyd near the boundary 40m out, and misses. (Q3 20:02)
Waite marks a slow, high Dal Santo ball over Laidler at the top of the square, somehow the only other bloke there was Cunnington. Waite goals. (Q3 27:18)
Tippett storms onto a McVeigh centre clearance kick to 35m on a slight angle and boots the first goal of Q4! (Q4 0:37)
Harvey passes to the lead of Petrie at 35m on a slight angle. pretty much the same set shot that Tippett had up the other end. Petrie misses. (Q4 3:02)
Macmillan is on the HFF and sees Gibson in the pocket 20m out, then hits him to mark unopposed. Gibson hits the post, but a free off the ball gives him a goal from the square! (Q4 5:39)
Macmillan it was who sucked in his opponent Heeney into scragging him off the ball for that massive turnaround. (Q4 7:06)
North wins the centre clearance through Goldstein, Thomas gets a crumb soon after being subbed on for a grubber from near the hotspot… it skids through for another one! (Q4 7:32)
Tippett marks a Heeney ball on the lead 40m out near the boundary. He misses. (Q4 9:03)
Petrie marks near the hotspot and suffers a sickening headclash with Rohan. But it looks to be Rohan who was more injured, as he led with the jaw. Petrie comes off… (Q4 17:33)
Rohan is helped off by trainers looking much the worse for wear. (Q4 18:03)
Gibson takes the set shot, but misses. (Q4 19:03)
Goodes marks 25m out on the flank, the home Swan crowd are disappointed as he misses. (Q4 21:05)
Higgins gives outside to Atley who runs into a bit of space on the flank and has a left foot shot from 40m… that’s the sealer! (Q4 23:54)
Waite snaps his third goal after roving a contest 20m out in the pocket. We are into junk time now with less than 3:00 left. (Q4 28:32)
Rampe passes inside to Goodes at 40m on a slight angle. He rushes the set shot, but goals anyway, in possibly his last AFL game. The Swans get around him as you’d expect. (Q4 30:34)
Higgins passes from the wing to Garner near the hotspot in the last minute. Garner misses. (Q4 32:19)
