Blog log from R4 of 2018: Western Bulldogs vs Sydney

The game begins with a fracas in the middle of the ground before the first bounce! The umpires quickly disperse the push and shove. (Q1 0:45)
Bontempelli gets the first centre clearance and Mcclean receives a free against Smith for marking interference. He gives off to Johannisen who misses from 45 out on the flank. (Q1 2:51)
From a throw in just outside 50 the Swans gain possession. Kennedy gives off to Papley and his snap from 30 is a goal! (Q1 4:25)
Wallis puts an arrow on the chest of Redpath who marks in front of Grundy. From 30 out in the pocket he slots the first for the Dogs. (Q1 5:59)
Parker receives a free kick against Jong for a push in the back. His set shot from 45 out on the flank is a goal. (Q1 9:00)
After some great forward pressure, Gowers receives a free kick for a high fend off from Newman. His kick from 50 out on a tough angle is touched through for a point. (Q1 12:47)
The Dogs work it around after some good work from Wood at half back. It ends with Gowers who marks on the lead in front of Newman. He goes back and slots the goal from 40! (Q1 15:13)
Some more good build up play from the Dogs results in Johannisen hitting Jong on the chest in the pocket. From 30 out he kicks the goal. (Q1 18:00)
Florent sends a long ball into 50 with Richards and Papley battling for it. Richards drags Papley down and he receives a free kick for a hold. Papley kicks it from point blank. (Q1 20:37)
Dahlhaus is hemmed in on the 50 and gives to Dickson. He runs inside 50 and dances around Rampe. From 35 out on the boundary he bends through a great goal! (Q1 22:01)
Daniel has a potshot from 30 out on the boundary line which goes across the face and sneaks through for a behind. (Q1 26:14)
The Dogs take their time out of defence and just get over the Swans zone. Redpath sends it long inside 50 and the ball comes off hands to Dale. His quick snap from 30 is a goal! (Q1 28:01)
Gowers squares it up at half back but turns it over to Cunningham. Cunningham goes long and Parker marks uncontested at the tip of the square. His set shot is a goal. (Q1 30:01)
Richards receives a free for tunnelling against Papley. He sends long inside 50 to Honeychurch who drops the mark and gives to Jong. His snap under pressure misses. (Q2 2:56)
Hunter extracts the ball from a contest at half forward and the Dogs go to the hotspot. The ball comes off hands to Dickson who gathers the loose ball and snaps his second. (Q2 4:38)
Honeychurch receives a free against Rampe for in the back. He goes to English who sends it long inside 50. Bontempelli steals from Kennedy and snaps a high ball in for a goal! (Q2 5:56)
Naughton is called holding the ball by Parker after a stoppage inside the Swans’ 50. His set shot from 40 out on the flank sneaks through for a goal. (Q2 10:27)
The Swans work it well after Aliir brings it to ground on the wing. Heeney then hits up Hayward in the pocket. His shot from 30 hits the woodwork. (Q2 13:12)
The Swans rebound out of defence and Jack sends the ball into the pocket where Buddy receives a free against Wood. From 45 out on a tight angle he puts it across the face. (Q2 15:58)
Franklin marks in front of Wood after Sydney rebounds from defence. From a similar spot to his last shot, he puts it to the near side this time. (Q2 18:27)
Johannisen chips a short one inward to a couple of free Dogs and finds Dunkley 40 out on the flank. His set shot is a behind. (Q2 20:07)
Hayward is caught HTB at half back and the Dogs find Suckling 50 out on the opposite flank. He goes back and with his booming left foot can only manage a behind. (Q2 22:11)
Smith is pushed off a kick out of defence and it goes off the side of his boot to Suckling. His quick snap from 30 is another behind. (Q2 23:28)
Franklin marks 60 out in the middle of the ground and finds Heeney by himself 30 out in the pocket. His set shot goes through for a goal as the siren sounds for the half. (Half Time)
Bontempelli gets a handball out of extremely heavy traffic in his defensive 50. It fires out straight to Cunningham who throws it onto the boot and goals from 30. (Q3 3:32)
Dahlhaus catches Mills HTB deep in the Dogs’ attacking 50. His set shot from 35 is a shocker, hitting the behind post. (Q3 5:18)
Naughton turns it over to Towers coming out of defence. He sends it back in and finds Franklin in front of Suckling. His set shot from 20 out in the pocket is a goal. (Q3 8:46)
Sinclair marks a poor kick inside from Gowers. He goes long inside 50 to Buddy shades across to mark 45 out on the flank. His set shot is a beauty. (Q3 10:59)
McVeigh goes into the pocket but misses Heeney. Heeney keeps the ball in with Richards collecting but he is then chased down with the second effort. His banana from 20 is a goal! (Q3 13:31)
The Dogs work it well at half forward to get it to McLean who takes a speculative shot from 40 out on the boundary. His shot is a behind. (Q3 18:17)
Richards finds Wallis deep in the pocket in front of Mills. From 40 out on the boundary he slots it with surgical precision! (Q3 20:57)
McLean gets legged in the centre. He gives off to Suckling who goes deep inside 50 where 2 Swans defenders fall over each other leaving Bontempelli to run into an open goal! (Q3 22:42)
Johannisen sends a high snap inside 50 where English juggles a strong contested mark. From 50 out on the flank he sprays it OOF. (Q3 24:01)
McLean receives a free kick after drawing high contact from Jones. He gives to Suckling who launches from 50 but can only manage a behind. (Q3 25:32)
Mills puts it OOF and Honeychurch brings it back with a long inside 50. Dunkley goes up and clunks a strong mark in the pack. From 40 out he misses. (Q3 27:45)
Papley sends a long ball into the square where Franklin judges the flight much better than Wood to mark easily. He snaps at goal from a tight angle but hits the post. (Q3 29:59)
Biggs’ kick out of defense is touched off the boot and is turned over. Franklin then marks on the lead in front of Wood 50 out. His set shot doesn’t make the distance. (3 Qtr Time)
A chain of handballs down the wing ends with Hewett hitting Franklin on the chest in front of a falling Wood. From 40 out near to the boundary he sneaks the set shot through. (Q4 2:51)
Towers manages to squeeze a handball to Heeney under pressure. He has open space in front of him and hits up Franklin 40 out. He shanks the set shot for a behind. (Q4 5:21)
Jones roves the tap from Sinclair 50 out from goal and takes a quick snap. It rolls through for a behind. (Q4 7:12)
McVeigh goes long into the pocket where Towers take a speccy over the top of Naughton. He slots the set shot from 30 to further the Swans’ lead. (Q4 11:52)
The Dogs get the centre clearance and Dunkley spots up Dahlhaus on the lead in the pocket. His shot from 40 out on a tough angle is touched over the line. (Q4 13:12)
Dunkley marks over Hannebery running back with the flight after a Hunter kick from the wing. He tries an around the corner kick from 30 out but misses. (Q4 14:40)
Daniel sends a low ball inside 50 where Dunkley is spoiled. It falls to Wallis who releases Daniel following up on his own kick. He snaps from 40 and kicks the goal! (Q4 20:24)
The Swans get the centre clearance go inside 50. Hannebery scrambles a handball out to Aliir at half forward. He runs to 35 and shoots but misses. (Q4 22:09)
The Dogs get a long downfield free kick, bringing them from their defensive goal square to the middle of the ground. English then finds Dunkley in the pocket. He misses. (Q4 22:54)
Daniel stands up in the tackle and just feeds the handball out. Dahlhaus ends with it and his snap from 40 is goal! The Dogs are still in this one! (Q4 27:19)
The Swans get over the Dogs’ zone with a Heeney kick. Florent marks and outruns English to goal from 40! That is the sealer! (Q4 28:55)
Jack spots up Franklin 60 out right on the siren. His shot is touched on the line. What a game! (Full Time)
