Heath Chapman started his career at Fremantle as a back pocket, despite being listed at 193cm, preferring to sit on smaller crumbing forwards. As time has moved on in his sixth season with the Dockers, with his spot in the best 23 firmly established, he has had to adapt to the changing structure of front sixes he faces. Many AFL clubs like to run with a half forward flanker who is technically not part of the usual three-pronged key forward spine, but is nonetheless tall enough to compete well in the air. His role has shifted more towards marking those types.
