Hugh Boxshall has come into the St Kilda senior side at an interesting time, as the club has not really bottomed out, and is now in the middle of a fight for a tenth spot in the newly-expanded finals series. Like most midfielders who come into a Ross Lyon team, his primary function is to run both ways, and he has had several learning experiences following star opposition mids this year already. Hugo Garcia and Marcus Windhager followed a similar apprenticeship trajectory and have grown into roleplayers; it remains to be seen what Ross the Boss wants Boxshall to become.
