Jake Lever made his name and won a premiership for Melbourne as a zone-off intercept specialist, in the modern way of key defenders. As he has aged, the team has lost soldiers around him as they transition to the next generation of Demons, and he has been forced to play a more traditional centre half back role, closer to his man than he would prefer. Like Jordan Ridley and Aliir Aliir, he has had to sacrifice his own game to help the club out in their time of need. This tends to limit his fantasy point production, unless Melbourne rebounds slowly with kicks across the backline.
