Edward Allan is playing his eighth senior game in a row this week, his best run in his three years on Collingwood's list. With older star midfielders like Jack Crisp and Steele Sidebottom more often found on wings and flanks these days, Allan has found a niche for himself as an inside mid with defensive duties, extending in recent weeks to tagging roles. He has not put fear into any hearts as yet, but sometimes you just need to put enough pressure on to force low efficiency rather than denying disposals. There is always a spot in modern midfielders for the coolers.
