Roan Steele is one of a number of young midfielders who have been recruited by Collingwood in past seasons but not managed to lock themselves in to a best 23 spot as yet. He is getting games at the moment mostly coming off a wing, showing promising signs with his positioning particularly in the front half to get on the end of scoring chains. Other younger conveyances have been tried and spurned before him, as coach Craig McRae tends to rely on his much older stars to fill the wings and flanks at important times. Can Steele survive the inevitable chopping block?
