Jed Walter was taken very high in a draft that contained a lot of midfielders who have gained more short-term fame. That does not mean that hindsight drafts should drop him down the order, as the true worth of key position players usually only happens by about year five in the system. He is probably the best-placed of the current crop to become the next Charlie Curnow: the athleticism to hit the logos, the upper-body strength to win wrestles with gorilla defenders, and the hops to take speccies and bring the punters through the gates.
