Beau McCreery is the type of player who is rarely going to feature in Brownlow votes, fantasy usage or basic statistical rankings, but he is very highly valued by coaches who want to win games of football at the highest level. In possession he can seem like he doesn't have a weapon, but it's without the footy that his best work is done. His tireless running off the ball drains his half back opponent of juice on the spread, and his chase of opposition flankers can turn games. With all the focus this season at Collingwood on the arrival of Lachie Schultz, it's McCreery who should be lauded.
