MID-SEASON REVIEW (posted 2010-06-17 21:23:11)
Ryan Hargrave, turning 29 in 2010, was never a great Dream Teamer since his debut in 2002, until 2009 when he lifted his average to 93.2 for the year. This stand-out year prompted many fantasy coaches to pick him up at the start of the 2010 season as the second most expensive defender. However, they were left with nothing but disappointment as he consistently topped the lists for price drops, averaging a dismal 66.1 points in the nine games he played in the first half of the season.

To further pile on the agony for coaches, Hargrave managed two 100 scores in the first half of the season, fooling even more coaches into picking him up as a bargain at a low of $292,000. He tricked fantasy coaches into thinking that his 2009 form had returned, only to disappoint them further with more lowly scores: none over 70, some as low as 9.

PLAYER DISCUSSION
Encouraging scores the last two weeks - sorta stuff i'd hoped to see as soon as i picked him up at his 292,0 basement price. As long as he finishes the season strong he'll have been worth the risk - and his confidence looks miles and away from his tentative return from the neck injury. - Generalsor - 7 days ago
I hope you are right mate. I've had him since round 1. - Footy God - 10 days ago
get on this guy, im a doggies man and have seen a role change the past 2-3 weeks, dogs have a tough run home but i can see him averaging 90-100 from here on in, well worth it for a 7th back - sunny_side_down - 10 days ago

Is he playing - BigRoost29 - 1 months ago
they are looking to rest him again this round to get him right - Kanga King - 1 months ago
Eade says Hargrave is a 50/50% chance to play this weekend. hopefully he can step in for grant or higgins - tezmacan - 1 months ago
what a spud injured again this guy has ruined my season - clarkey - 1 months ago
hargrave, mcgrath, or someone else? should i keep kenelly? i cant afford over $390 000 - higgins76 - 2 months ago
I traded him before round 9, finally had enough of his sh*thouse scores & he wasn't looking like doing a thing. Of course he gets 34 possessions straight away, but 106 seems low for 34 touches. Still not convinced, and he better not get back to form the very week I trade him! - adamvk - 2 months ago
I'm guessing that people who have this guy also have Raines. - CamT - 2 months ago

Turns 29 in two months time. Has had one moderately good season in his entire career and everyone's in champing at the bit to get him in. What's the attraction. - CamT - 2 months ago
I have Maguire but his BE is about 29 so I might leave it for another week. - Igottarash - 2 months ago
Def upgrade hunt to hargrave. Who do ya's reckon i should upgrade to Hargrave, Kennelly(at max price) or maguire(will be more expensive) - hutchy141 - 2 months ago
Thoughts, Trade Hunt for Hargrave? - BigRoost29 - 2 months ago

Barring injury, he would be a more than handy 6th or 7th back for most teams - even if he averages mid 70s for the rest of the year. I suspect the current owners are just p*ed off he's dropped so much - BartelCRAP - 2 months ago
will he even come good though? Hes had one good year of scoring(2009) before that he was mediocre - SC ADDICT - 3 months ago
