MID-SEASON REVIEW (posted 2010-06-16 22:17:12)
While he's not a SC superstar, Brent Stanton is the perfect DT player. The hard-running midfielder combines a high kick-to-handball ratio with great marking and tackling numbers to ensure that any time that he gets around 25-30 touches, the result is a huge score for your team. The fact that he is a garbage time specialist doesn't hurt either, with Stants regularly slipping into defence to end the game with some cheap kicks and marks.

In 2010, Stanton has been up and down, racking up colossal numbers on occasion while also struggling with back and ankle injuries that have caused him to miss two games. Taggers have also been a problem, with Cameron Ling holding him to 72 in round 12 after Jobe Watson saw most of the attention early in the year. However, he has still improved on his 2009 DT average and has a chance to lift it further in the second half of the season.

PLAYER DISCUSSION
Bring your a game this weekend stants i need a big one to be a finals chance - benn 777 - today
"lazy footballer" -Triggajig. Lazy? Are you kidding me? I've heard people criticise his skills and decision making but lazy? Stants runs harder than 99% of players in the AFL. He's one of the hardest workers around. You my friend are a joke. - xztatik - 24 days ago
triggajig. petrenko isnt a spud, its his 2nd yr in afl, and just because hes not a dreamteam slut doesnt mean hes a bad player - Big Ledge - 1 months ago
lazy footballer, loves uncontested play, could put a spud like petrenko on him and he wouldnt get a touch - TriggaJig - 1 months ago
@jesseboy - I agree that the Bombers need to help him out, but if he was such a star like some people make him out to be he should be able to shake it himself. Look at Dane Swan who simply outruns his opponent or Chris Judd who doesn't get any help from his teammates but still get's 30 touches. - wooly - 1 months ago
Its not just that he himself can't shake a tag, but his team also needs to help. You see players like GAJ shake tags because team mates target the tagger and force him off the player. Bombers don't do that.. - jesseboy - 1 months ago
struggling with back and ankle injuries at the moment - Marcz - 1 months ago
so disapointing in the last month, when will he learn to shake a tag?? i want to see the good old, stanton with the cheap little marks from the kick ins, and around the centre... - TriggaJig - 1 months ago
SPUD. - wooly - 1 months ago
likey to play this weekend. thank god! - tezmacan - 1 months ago
what a spud avgs so much more in DT then SC a true indicator of a player who has no effect on the game and gets cheap possies - Richoman#1 - 1 months ago
WHY IS HIS PAGE STUFFED UP? - EAGLE4LIFE - 1 months ago
Was almost tempted myself - the hype about him or Sandi for captain this week got many I'm sure. Happy to say I didn't go either of them, but GAJ didn't pull out ripper either... - Esquire - 2 months ago
@ esquire i did and i'll never trust him again - EAGLE4LIFE - 2 months ago
B/E of 182. Wait until his price plummets next week. - BigV - 2 months ago
Poor call on the captain choice guys. Unlucky if you did. - Esquire - 2 months ago
when not tagged he is an all out gun (see geelong, collingwood, and hawthorn matches). with jackson out for the tigers this week, and no other recognised tagger in the tigers line up, putting him as captain wouldn't be such a bad call. - wooly - 2 months ago
Stanton , way to inconsistent for captain.. - AussieBat - 2 months ago
i disagree - berkoj - 2 months ago
If you were smart you'd put him as your captain this week. 150+ easy - steve7 - 2 months ago
