remember the 06/07 Ashes white wash side was dubbed the dads army

Have you got the ages of that team our current team has 3 under 30 ?
under 30 in that was M.Clarke, S.Clark, A.Symonds..i can't remember if anybody else was. Hussey was just 30 I think

Point taken but what I am saying if the blokes who are old and playing now batting wise were legends of the game all good but there not Rodgers , Watson ( such a disappointment ) Clarke is a batting great but his body is no longer up to it Haddin is past his best at his age keeping and batting , the time for change is this series not the Ashes , I know they won't change much this test hopefully this will all become visible at the Gabba and not in the Ashes
couldn't agree more..even giving guys like Quiney another chance or other youngish guys...Cowan might be in form but he is also getting up there.

if they're not bowling Watson for more than 10 overs a day he should not be in the side. He cant be in there just for batting-cannot convert a 50...not good enough

20 years from now I'll be saying I was there at day 5. What a day.
Will still not surpass my favourite was there with my father at the Gabba for the tied West Indies/Australia Test.  (Was still in nappies  ;)
Would've been great!

Today was the best I've been to for sure. All 3 results were the favourite at some stage. Brilliant!

The best thing that could happen would be that Finch was put in with Warner , at least with Finch he will only take a few minutes to get what Rodgers would take an hour and if he gets past that early phase him and Warner is something you could only dream about  :P

People like Harris and Johnson broke back into the team by removing young players from it.

In a much better transition state now than we were back then

There is no problems with our bowling although Harris 36 and Johnson 33 won't go on for ever especially Harris we have Cummins , Stark with test experience plus Hazelwood and a host of other bowlers like Boyce it's our batting that needs some attention ASAP the Gabba should highlight that next week because unless Rodgers , Watson Haddin and S. marsh if he gets a go turn around there form it might get very ugly

Yeah bowling wise is fine, I'd even argue that between Wade and wherever the hell Tim Paine is that the keeping is at least in a stable position.

As for batting, Doolan and Marsh are at worst hole pluggers. They can be bad but not much worse than Rogers and Watson are right now anyway.

Glenn Maxwell (god forbid) is apparently one of the next options but I reckon James Faulkner and Mitch Marsh could combine pretty well together.

Think Haddin needs to put his hand up pretty quick but it is big bucks so can understand why they persist , all on board with Doolan , Marsh has had many chances taken none like in the post before Finch would be perfect to replace Rodgers and I am serious don't see much different in him to Warner a couple of years back

AFEV

FTR Tim Paine just got dropped from his Shield side, so probably not close to replacing Haddin... :P

Glad some of you guys arent selectors :P

Always pick the best available for test cricket, age is irrelevant.

if Maxwell and Finch could change their game like Warner has, then they would be playing.

instead of just going the bash 2nd ball Maxwell needs to work into an innings-I understand in T20 but in ODI's and tests he doesn't need to

I would take Rogers over Finch every single day of the week

You are spot on there if you are talking about stats , so next test Watson , Rodgers and Haddin are gone and Lyon will be the only bowler with a automatic spot  :P

Rogers is a Victorian as well...

what other openers(besides Cowan) could walk straight into the test side?
