The best thing that could happen would be that Finch was put in with Warner , at least with Finch he will only take a few minutes to get what Rodgers would take an hour and if he gets past that early phase him and Warner is something you could only dream about  :P
I would take Rogers over Finch every single day of the week

Cmon GL his days are numbered is it because Finch is from down here ha ha like I said there is not much difference between Finch and a early Warner live the dream the best opening pair in the world  :P
??? I'm Victorian mate

I'm a massive Rogers fan, and I don't see anyone that would perform better than Rogers right at this moment. With his days being numbered, I'd be trying to get as much out of him as possible, and then blooding a youngster when he retires (which I assume will be at latest next year). And unless Finch can prove himself good enough to open in a test match, which will take a flowertonne of improvement, I wouldn't want him in the side.

Ha ha forgot mate should have clicked after state of origin in Elxam but Rodgers days are up not hoping but think we will see that at the Gabba he could not even handle the batting pitch this week , do you want to be blooding a newbie now or in the Ashes ?
I said his days are numbered, he may retire before the Ashes series next year. But I don't see the point in blooding a youngster who isn't as good as Rogers while he is still playing.

I agree. We shouldn't go chucking youngsters in the deep end straight away. Wait until they are ready.

Jay

See I think we should pick the most promising youngster and just stick with him. None of what they did to Doolan and Hughes. Back their talent!

shaker

Well when do we chuck them in now is not the time so I take you mean when we are in the middle of the Ashes  :o or we just play Rodgers till he reaches retirement ? :P

Someone is obviously going to have to replace Clarke, and until Rogers either turns into shower or retires, I think he should stay. Don't think it would be very wise to trial 2 new guys at once anyway. IIRC we did that in SA or something with Doolan and Marsh? Pretty sure that didn't work out well :P
Replace Clarke with someone, and keep them there for as long as possible. Then when Rogers is either not good enough or retires, bring in another younger player.

PowerBug

Well hang on, Warner had critics when he started in the test team. He "changed his game" as you are all talking about above during his time in the test team! I see zero problems with Finch playing, at least he actually tries and seems like a good bloke.

Or replace Clarke for the moment and if he comes back drop Rogers maybe? Watson opening?

I'm not expecting Clarke to play again for at least 2-3 months, which could be around the time Rogers retires anyway haha

Mailman the 2nd

The commentators have gone over Finch being in the test team so many times its getting tiring.

He averages something like 27 in first class cricket, he's a garbage opener

nrich102

Is anyone actually saying we should put Finch in the  team?

PowerBug finally someone see's thing as I do Finch is no different than Warner when he started do it and do it now , but that won't happen lets see how Rodgers goes this week hopefully for us he gets a ton but looking at him scratching around this week can't see it happening

shaker

You guys are just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic moving Watson to opener hang on let me find a tree to throw this noose over  :P

I said that! he needs to fix his game to resemble something like Warners...and being more patient

I think we need to blood as many young bowlers as we can for the future...
so whilst we are playing teams like India in Aus we can kinda afford to trade Siddle for Hazlewood for a game or so
