Quote"AFL football is a lifestyle, not a job. At the elite level you’ve got to live football 24/7.

“If you can’t live your entire life with the necessary commitment and discipline you won’t and can’t be elite. At the moment I simply don't have the passion required to play at the elite level, and don’t want to take a spot on the SUNS list that can be given to somebody else.

Well at least he is honest.

What a soft cock

for what realising he doesnt have a passion for his job and deciding rather then to take a pay check and take a guys spot who wants to be there he gives that up.

if its something you don't enjoy its not the best job in the world.

takes a big person to realise your dreams as a kid dont match up to the reality of now.

sometimes it takes more strength to walk away.

Yeah I agree with Holz, the kid could have just sat on GC's list for another couple of years just going through the motions laughing all the way to the bank with his 150k or whatever he'd be on.

Good on him for doing something with his life.

Couldn't agree more with that.

Some guys just don't have the passion for the game 24/7. It doesn't mean they don't want to work hard, it just means they don't love footy to the point they want to have to live it and breathe it 24 hours a day for the entire year. It's where the external interests come into play as well.

When you look at it, some of the guys that were stars in the last 10-20 years wouldn't survive in the game today with the way it is structured and the professionalism and commitment required to play at the top level.

Besides, what's harder?

Playing footy or slugging it 9-5 every day. I know what I'd deem as easier.

Better perks playing footy though  :P

We could've all been professional athletes if we put in the hard work required.

Andrew Boston does not want to work as an AFL player, he can find work somewhere else. Good on him.

No, we couldn't have. There's thousands that don't make it that have a higher level or work ethic or put more work in than those that do mate it, but simply don't have the talent.

Some need to work harder than others to get there but it is possible. You probably need some coordination however to begin with.

Sorry man still disagree. Plenty work harder than those that get drafted, and still aren't good enough
