He isn't an outside mid, he's a combo guy that can hit the scoreboard. We played him as a half forward all year out of necessity, but the man is a beast

I thought Carlton needed the Bell picks because of all the father/son recruits in this draft (same rules as academy picks)

Unfortunately Rice has picked the Saints and it looks like we might be able to get Silvagni with a later pick. I think we just wanted to get the deal done because of the circumstances with Bell's dad.

There's also a new rule at Carlton, if I like you as a player you're either traded or delisted. If you're horrible we give you a long term contract

flower me, Robinson and Bell in the same midfield simply isn't safe. You'd be inclined to play a reserves midfield against them in order to avoid serious injury to first team players! :P

We really did overpay for Melksham  :(

They give an upgrade on a later pick though so makes Bell about what, 25-30ish?

Bell did go to Brisbane for family reasons which is why Carlton accepted less than what he was worth.

Would have cost Melbourne a 1st round pick to get him.
